    Default Need help- onemodelplace

After reading about onemodelplace.com on here, I decided to create an account and put up a few pics...and I never expected my inbox to be floded with 20 emails a day from people. Mostly TFP, and some paid for nude.
I have no idea what to do. Is it common to get that many emails every day? How do I know who is real who is not, where should I go from here? Do I contact everyone who sent me email?

it is common at the start, yes. photographers can set it up so they get an email alert every time a new model in their area joins the site, so you will often get bombarded with emails to begin with.

I have had the same problem and have copped shit from a photographer or two over at net-model for not replying and being "unprofessional".
I find it so hard because once you start replying they reply back and it's hard to remember whos who and keep up with it all. If I didnt have a life maybe I could, but there is only so many shoots you can fit in and so much organising you can do at a time and having to wait for some people to get back to you before you give the go ahead to someone else... ARGH! I just feel like giving up currently.
Im trying to work out how to set up some sort of fileing system, but not too succesfully. I want someone else to do it all for me!

I have set up several different email folders. One for incomming emails, one for my outgoing responses, and a third for all replys.
I also did a search here for OMP and foudn a form another girl uses to screen people, and I made one of my own, I send that out to anyone I get an email from, and Im going from there. I am hoping I dont sound to unprofessional, I dont want to be taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge.

Hey Honey could you send me a copy of that form? I could really use something like that.

Having the Inbox flooded seems to be the common experience for a new OMP model. The hotter the model, the more flooded she gets.

Suggestion of one way to handle it: Make a new folder for OMP inquiries, with a filter to direct them all there.

For people you don't want to work with, you can cut and paste a short response ("Thank you for your interest! Unfortunately, with the rush of inquiries I have gotten, I have a full calendar for the foreseeable future. I'll let you know if some openings develop. I wish you the best of luck with your photography!") and send them off so you don't have to type responses to everyone.

For people you might want to work with, you can create another new folder, like a subfolder, and take your time with those. But of those 20 e-mails you get per day, you're probably just looking at about 18 that are crap cattle calls. I'm thinking Las Vegas will get you more than your share of GWC's, too.

Good luck with your modeling. (No, I didn't cut and paste that.)

Almost evryone Ive gotten a reply from had a website I could check out, and when asked, they all provided references. Almost all of them were offering TFP, and only 2or 3 offered pay, but that was for topless and nude stuff. So is there anyway to tell the BS from the real thing or is checking their websites and references all I can do?

Websites and checking references work pretty well. I'm trying to think of any photography forums in your area that would have postings by locals. Seems like there was an active Southern California forum at one time. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Trade is really for your own promotion, if your portfolio needs shots to help you advance your image. If you don't need images but want to network, you might just start with the top photographers who are offering to work with you.

I've had some contact with a friendly Las Vegas model who seems to keep busy. She might be helpful about some locals. You can PM me if you're curious about that.

Later edit. Ahh, here's a forum I was thinking of to possibly check out some area talent:

Have you put in your OMP profile exactly what you are and are not willing to do? If you arent willing to do TFP or nude shots...put that right in there and it should cut down drastically on the incoming emails. When you are new you will get a TON of emails for awhile...fresh meat and all that! You can also put right in your profile somethgin along the lines of "Being new I have gotten a huge response, so if I dont reply right away, please dont assume I am not interested. I am returning emails as fast as possible and appreciate all the interest in working with me"
It'll die down in a few months(although i've found that if you update with new info/pics you get more emails again)so pack your calander now while you can!!!
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.
