Special Interest Groups Are Waging War on the American Dream and How to Fight Back," a new book by Lou Dobbs.
I heard an interview with him this morning, and the first recommendation he made to fight back is to change your voter registration to independent. I can't do this, as I've been registered as an independent since I've been old enough to vote. But this is an option for millions of other voters! If you remove yourself from the base of either party, then the candidates will be forced to work that much harder for your vote without taking your vote for granted anymore.
The interviewer later noted that the U.S. society is being slowly changed from a producer society to a consumer society. Which is nonsensical, as how do you earn funds to consume if you don't produce something from square one?
I was mulling over whether to post the info about this book in the members forum, but since most of the deleterious effects covered in this book can ultimately be traced back to the financial health of the middle class, I decided to post the info here.
