You know the feeling. A tiiiiiiny sore throat, a tiny sniffle. What do you guys do to try and nip it in the bud before it gets really bad?

Two weeks ago when I started to get sick, I drank an entire thing of OJ, kept up on my vitamins and got a solid 7-8 hours of sleep. I did for 2-3 nights to make sure it was nipped in the bud.

Echinacea, Vitamin C, Zinc
I use Cold FX, but I think that's Canadian...I think the American equivalent is Airborne?

Vitamin C, Echinacea, Cold FX and bottles of orange juice... you'll feel better the next day![]()
Echinacea, zinc lozenges, oil of oregano, salt water gargles.
5 grammes of vitamin C - if the symptons are still there an hour later take another 5 grammes and so on. Dont use calcium ascorbate, it doesnt get absorbed properly. Use vitamin C powder if you can. Also if may give you dioreah after the first couple of doese - it's not terrible dioreah though and its definatly better than getting sick.
Ive used this successfully for 15 years. Havent had cold or flu symptons that lasted more than a few hours since 1991!
I have other methods too which work wonderfully, but no time right now to explain etc.

I use mega does of Vitamin C, drink organic mushroom broth, green tea, collodial silver & eat fresh garlic & onions. Also stay warm and wear socks.

Zicam. Best stuff ever. Get the mouth spray, as the nose spray apparently can cause a loss of smell after continued use. Fastest way to get rid of a cold I've tried.
Also take a bunch of vitamin c, and keep up on your multivitamins.
I believe you Dottie and you have my support
One of my other methods is to use Colloidal Silver. I use drops in my ears and up my nose or snort it, and gargle some for a while and swallow - it works a treat, usually imedaiatly!Originally Posted by Farrah_Holiday
I just put off mentioning it because everytime I do someone posts a link to quackwatch and mentions argyria. >>waits for someone to do so<<![]()
My other method is to use a Zapper - it never fails either. Basically these days if Im at home and it's daytime I use vitamin C. If its late and I want to sleep I use the zapper and if im at work or out I use colloidal silver. Sometime I used all 3. The long and the short of it is they kick sickness in the arse pretty quickly![]()

^ I never tried putting it in my ears and nose. I should try it. I just take it orally.
What are the benefits of taking it that way ?

Airborne and Zicam (zinc nasal spray/gel) usually cut my colds pretty short. they can both be found at almost any drug/grocery store. hope you feel better!

I read that quite often we contract colds via the ears so it seemed to me to be a good idea. I guess ears, nose throats all connected anyway. I have found it works really well. I just put my head on one side and let it sit there for a minute or so, then do the same on the other side. Same goes with the nose - for a runny nose, a couple of drops of CS will often clear it up immeadiatly. Its also good for itchy eyes too.Originally Posted by Farrah_Holiday
^^^^ Airborne is the balls. Just not the lemon-lime flavor. Evil, icky badness.
Steam! Seriously, my boyfriend is so annoying with the way he insists on steaming if he feels a cold coming on, but it really works. He has a little steamer thing and you breath it for 5 - 10 minutes. I did it yesterday and it totally killed the little tickle in my nose and now I feel completely better. I think it must just kill those germs.
Ricola honey lemon throat drops with echinacea...![]()
Fresh squeezed lemons in hot water with a little bit of raw honey.
Lemons are loaded with vitamin C, the hot water and honey help soothe the sore throat and the raw honey also contains antibiotic and antibacterial properties.

Lemon, honey, garlic and ginger 'tea'. Also you can add paprika and aloe vera juice. My mum always used to put cayenne pepper too. Make sure you eat all the bits of garlic and ginger from the bottom of the mug. It's gross but it works. I only ever do it if i'm staying home because once you start to sweat it out. Argh.

Vitamin C powder is awesome too. Garlic and horseradish tablets.
I'm goin to try that colloidal silver when next needed too, aps!

Honey, raw or not always makes me sicker. I can't tolerate any sugar on a cold "natural" or not. I know many people who find "natural sugars" worsen them as well. If you find you're getting worse, eliminate the honey/sugars and see if it makes a difference.
I do well with lots of soup and plain teas, vit C of course and REST. Most people don't really rest when they are ill, but you have to! Eating lighter is a good idea (but still eat, mind you!), people don't digest well when ill and need that energy for healing.

where you do you get colloidal silver?

I always try to get some extra sleep too. I dont go out drinking n such to wear myself down. I take vitamin C tabs and vitamin C lozenges too. I try to keep warm and dont exerte myself too much. I also wash everything...door knobs, handles, keyboard - basically everything I touch.

as much of it as i can stand (especially if i have the scratchy throat).
then i just hang round my husband breathing through his nose because he has the most insane immunity... like mother and baby bears. weird, but it works. i haven't been sick for more than a year - and i go to some dodgy, people-filled places.
