Thumbs down What do you say to "lame excuses"?

I work both day and night shifts. It is very common for me to get day shift customers who "just came in for a beer after work"....ugh. I feel like my hustle is pretty good, I keep the conversation light and fun, then suggest a private dance. I don't spend more than a few minutes on each guy. The guys who give me this particular excuse are the ones who sit near the back of the club, eyes GLUED to the stage, and they don't tip when I'm onstage, not even a dollar! Often, they stay for up to an hour!! I never have these types come in on night shift. What to do/say???

Ignore them. When they're hiding in the back of the club, they want a free show and they're afraid to get one near or at the stage. They are cheap, self-entitled boys who think women as a whole "owe them" free entertainment after their "hard day's work" (what about our hard day's work?). They are the same guys who complain about the one-drink minimum.

I don't know about the larger showclubs, but in the smaller ones you can usually tip/befriend the bartenders/waitstaff/bouncers and they'll cut the bastards off. They usually take great joy in doing so!

To guys that say they're "just here for a beer", I usually say "yeah, I love paying a dollar extra for my beer too"...then I start joking around about other things I like to pay more for...then I ask for a dance. Meh, it works sometimes.

i hate the "come back in a little while" or "later" ..then they get pissy when i don't make it back to them because i got busy!! grr.. so I always say
"okay hon but im awfully busy (whether i'm busy or not) so i may not have time.. sure you don't just want one right now? " -- sometimes it works

Couldn't have said better myself. Don't waste your time on them - it will just irritate you. Spend your time on other guys.

    I say

'Really, I am here to make money, and besides, I love to hang out at strip clubs, pay the $20 entry, double price on beer and listen to the cheesy strip club music.... now I know why you come here, thanks for making that apparent, I honestly would have throught that the local pub would be better, atleast you have a real chance of getting sex"

3/10 times they will take me for a dance - those who dont, I hope they take it seriously.... lol

Hearts, you're in Portland, right? I've had to deal with those guys at every club I've ever worked at. I've realized that there's pretty much no hope of getting them to spend money no matter what I do so I don't waste my time being nice OR being bitchy to them (except on an occasional super bad shift, I'll sometimes use them to take out my aggression. Ha.). I used to dwell on it and it would really get to me and I would start to feel all bitter and aggro. Now I just ignore them as much as I can and it's a lot easier to stay in a good mood. At this point I TRY to think of it like this: at least they make the club look busy, which seems to make the other customers stay longer. I've noticed that it's really hard to keep customers in the club if they walk in and there's practically no one in there.

When they say they just want to have a few drinks and "chill" I say: If your broke you might as well have gone to some hole in the wall bar, where you could have taken home a girl for free, I sure hope they have cheap tequila shots!

Tried a variation of that one time..

guy:I'm just here for some beers and to watch the stage show.
me:Well that's like going to a movie without paying for the ticket..
    guy:yeah I do that too.

that reminds me of this conversation i had:

guy: oh i'm just having a couple drinks on my way home
me: well are you enjoying the show?
guy: absolutely, that's why i pay extra for the beer
me: you know we don't get any of that money right? we're dancing for you for free unless you tip us
guy: look honey, i work hard for the little bit of money i have
    me: .............so do i
    guy: *laughs* yeah right

    ...........................

some of you might remember that this conversation is the one that caused me to snap and "break it down" for the guy. he actually became a regular customer of the bar who TIPPED well after that. sadly, that's not normally the outcome.

eh i dont even bother with these guys. if they use some lame excuse on me, its probably because they think im some gold digging stripper trying to empty their wallets and because they dont want to spend alot of money. sometimes ill walk up to a guy, ask if he would like some company and he just shakes his head no. wow! haha. i jsut smile sweetly, say ok thanks anyways. or if hes with a few friends, try to act like hes missing out and ask his friends who wants to have some fun(like makiing the guy who said no to u a loser).

but i dont think u shud ever act mean to a customer cuz if other customers see it makes u look bad, as some peoploe have said. unless hes a REAL asshole, then its okay, i think. like u can do the 'sweet but rude' thing, know what i mean?

my first time in the club i was going to try to sit in the back, only because i asked a co-worker what i should do there, i know i know what a noob haha.
In reality it went down a lot differently, i spent a lot of time at the tip bar/stage
and i ended up spending a few bills lol.
I got 5 lap dances that visit, and i went again 2 weeks later(this past saturday)
and spent 650 dollars, what im getting at is, a dancer can pick any guy even if he plans on spending a lot or not, and make him drop a weeks pay with out hessitating.

i feel under the spell of a girl named Chanel at tropical lei
i keep going back, and spending lots of my hard earned cash.

If your a dancer, just go for vulnerable guys, that are typically undesirable to women, we drop like flys when a beautiful woman talks to us sensual lol.

    cheers
