Angry apparently i'm curvier than before

well, last night one of my old regulars came in. i haven't seen him in probably 4 months. now, i knew that i had gained a bit of weight, because the last time he saw me i was having food issues, and dropped a shitload of weight. (i was very skinny apparently even though i couldnt tell.) well anyway, he got a champagne room which was cool cause he hadn't done that very often before. and we were talking and doing laps. and he told me not to get offended, but as a person who has had food issues i can't help but take it personally... he said i look 'curvier than before.' he said it wasn't bad and i looked good, but that killed the mood and just upset me and today i can't stop thinking about how if he said something i must really have gained weight. ARGH it sucks
even though i know i'm not fat i feel fat and that comment doesn't help.

why do guys say stuff like that?

Sounds like he was trying to commend you! Dont take it to heart!

Although I am not a 'big' girl (I am 52kg) but I find when I put on a few extra kilos, I get people saying I look great!

Well, if you were SKINNY after losing alot of weight before as you said, then of course you are curvier now, after putting a little weight back on. That's a good thing. Most men like curves - it's womanly and sexy. There's really not that many men who like skinny girls. I am sure he meant it as a compliment and just didn't say it right. Take it as a compliment!! He bought a champagne room with your curves, after all.

Curves are good. Keep telling yourself that. Because it's true.

When will guys learn that is is generally NOT a good idea to comment on a womans weight at ALL. If SHE says something about trying to lose(or gain)weight then MAYBE you can chime in with..."oh..have you? I thought you looked great today! That must be why!)

Other than that..what happened to the time when it was un-gentlemanly to ask about a ladies weight, age, show size, etc...etc....
Now they think its ok to not only ask....but COMMENT on it????

Where o where have all the gentlemen in the gentlemens clubs gone?
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

As far as it having to be A LOT of weight for the guy to notice, please don't worry about it. I've found certain guys that I dance for regularly have this way of noticing when I lose seven, five, even THREE pounds. I'm not really short, so when someone else says "oh, you've lost weight" when I know I've lost all of THREE pounds, I'm a little creeped out. They are a lot more observant than you might think.

And I totally agree he meant it as a compliment. Some men aren't so delicate in how they say things, but he bought the CR with you, and I doubt he wanted to spend more time with you just to be insulting.

Lol.... there used to be gentlemen in the clubs? Whoa! Where was I?

Don't feel bad, sweety. It sounded like a compliment... even though it was dumb of him to comment on it, like cameronfl said. I had a guy tell me a couple days ago that he liked me because I had a "big butt". I looked at him and said "EXCUSE me?!" He started stuttering and said it wasn't BIG, but it was firm... blah blah blah. I swear, they say these things just to be jackasses.

i fucking hate when guys say shit like that.

it's like when they get a dance from you and then say to you, "i like you because you're not skinny like all the other girls"

you know they mean it as a compliment, but you can't help but spend the rest of the night fretting that you're a fucking elephant and telling yourself that you'll starve yourself for the next week.

happens to me aaaaaall the time.

OK, so I heard this once:
"Renee Zellweger never really did anything for me. Then she gained that weight for Bridgette Jones's Diary and she made me excited enough to pound nails through titanium with. . well, you know."

I thought it was the best thing ever, and I was telling guys about it -- every last damn one of them agreed with me.

Your customer didn't phrase it well at all, but you probably used to look unhealthily skinny to him before (not Nichole Richie maybe, but still) and now you just look amazing. Remember, you were having eating issues; even if you didn't notice it, you probably looked a touch sickly. Now that you're eating well, you probably look damn gorgeous with that glow of health about you. If the comment really bugs you, go eat a big healthy meal (lean protein and a salad or something) and do a workout. Then admire your gorgeous sweaty body in a mirror -- it usually works for me.

And remember, women tend to look to models and such as the ideal of beauty. Men tend to look to women that are a little more curvy (maybe not Renaissance-era curvy, but not Twiggy either) as the ideal of beauty. For example, you know that little dent that your underwear will make in your hips if you aren't super-skinny? There's a comic book artist from Japan (whose work I love) that seems to adore drawing that on his female characters -- to him, a well-shaped and nicely (just a bit) padded body is the absolute epitome of sexy.

See? It's all in the delivery.

"I like you cause you're more of the girl next door type"

Guys just don't think before they speak sometimes. I had a customer call me voluptuous when I weighed 103 lbs. I was telling a male friend of mine how I went off the pill because my mother and sister had their gallbladders taken out...what does he say first?....."oh, do you think you will gain weight?" This guy likes skinny women... I weigh 95lbs right now.

Okay, my hubby is THE WORST at compliments....but even when this ass backwards f*cked up stuff comes out of his sweet mouth, I know he means it nicely.

It sucks that you had eating issues, that makes things twenty times harder I am sure...but like all the other girls are saying, it WAS a comliment.

I'm 6' tall, dd's and VERY long legs that are muscular, I am not little...anywhere...and I don't know how many times a night I hear "damn, you're a big girl!" As aweful as that sounds, these guys don't realize what they are saying...or at least how it sounds to a woman...so, take it for what it is, a man admiring your body, and flaunt it girlie! I looked at your pic, and hot damn!

Yeah, I'm a hair short of 5'4, and weighted around 115 on average dancing, pretty petite. Lots of dessicated little old men used to remark about how "heavy" I felt. Conversely, other guys would talk about how "light" I was in their lap. I think its those physically decrepid men that don't understand...we have mass and muscle too!

LMAO!! At 5'5 and 125-130, guys have often called me "big" or something similar. I always wonder what kind of warped sense of size they have when they say stuff like that, especially considering the AVERAGE size of women in this country is around twice my size One Texan once looked me up and down on stage and yelled, "DAYUM, yer wuna them'ar breeeeedin' wimin!!" LOL. Dumbasses. I knew it was a compliment but still, he could've chosen his words a tad better.

I am far from skinny and can never be really thin (it simply doesn't look good on me), but I am also a far cry from being fat and I know it. I have hips, thick legs, DDs and an ass. But it's nicely proportioned and I have a major hourglass figure that most guys seem to enjoy. I hear all the time how I'm voluptuous, curvy, thick, etc, and they're drooling as they say it, so fine by me. Have to take it in stride. Hell I make more money when I'm on my heavier side, 130 instead of 125, so clearly the guys like the extra curves.

    Love your curves ladies!!!

Guys are such morons. When I first started dancing I was self conscious about my weight, well, my butt at least. (I was called the white girl with the black girl booty more times than I can count) And I was pmsing and bitchy, and this cheap ass hispanic guy yells up on the stage "dammmmnnn ma how'd you get so thick?" i was totally offended, even though i knew he was complimenting me, and yelled back "By eating fucking McDonalds every fucking day!"

    Priceless look on his face...priceless.

Didnt you have a baby some time back? Babies make curves more apparent. I say embrace the curves! It makes you look more of a woman than a pre-pubescent 10yr old boy. Not that you were before.

"Curvy" is good! I always think of this wording as a compliment...
On the other hand... My ex told me I was "chubby" then I weight 47kg (10kg less than I do now - I'm 168cm) - "Chubby" sounds more insulting. >_<

I believe curvy to be a positive word... in response to the comment made earlier about men commenting on our bodies being rude, well shit! They're in a titty bar surrounded by naked women, and let's not forget they ARE men, so there's always bound to be an abundance of comments. I've been at both ends of the spectrum - 105lbs dancing, 135lbs dancing. that's a big ol' jump for a 5'3" frame. And I've made the best money being a bit "curvier". I'd rather be a little too heavy than a little too skinny.

I always tell guys, women are meant to be squishy! Embrace the squishiness!
