So at work tonight I suddenly got so sick in a painful stomach way (it turns out I have an ulcer, and being in the midst of midterms, it gets really burny these days). It just hurt and try as I did to 'act' normal and sexy, it wasn't happening. I am no such stellar actress after all. I was not feeling great during the dances, and the customers could tell.
So unable to tough it out and unable to go home until 'after stage' (I'm new, and I don't blame them for being skeptical of my 'sickness' on a sunday night), I sat kinda hidden to the side. Well, wouldn't you know it, I kept getting approached for dances (murphy's law), even though I was literally hiding myself behind a half wall in a corner. But my pretty (and kinda similar looking, in a tallish young blonde way) friend was sitting with me, so rather than saying "uh...no, I can't dance for you...because...I have to go...soon" I said "uh, well I'm on stage real soon" or "oh, my ride's coming in like five minutes"..."but here's my friend!"
This happened maybe three times before I had to go, but all went with her and seemed okay with it. I can see how this would be a bad idea if it were a regular or something, but none of those guys had I met before tonight. The first two I spoke with earlier (before being sick), and the other guy tipped me on stage and said "can i have a dance?".
So question- would you be offended by a dancer doing this? Saying "no, but take her instead!!". Like, she's the same 'look' as me and probably prettier, so the harm no foul right? I just wonder if I am sometimes doing strange things and offending people (customers, other dancers, staff, etc) without knowing it. It just seemed like a better thing to do than say "no, no dance monsieur, sorry".
(ps- shout out to PR if you're reading this! Nothing against you obviously, I just wonder about 'stripper etiquette' sometimes)
