    Default Chiropractic...just yumm

My only experience with chiropractic treatments was several years back to deal with chronic neck pain. (Those aches never returned after about 10 treatments--thanks for asking.)

Lately I have been jonesing to have various parts of me treated--lower & mid back and hips, imaging that satisfying CRACK/POP.

Anyone go routinely? Suggestions where to find a great therapist in Chicago?

I been in two serious motor vehicle accidents plus performed some pretty strenuous work while nursing. Pilates is god sent for your back. I no longer need a chiropractor.

I go regularly - I swear I have THE best chiropractor! Mine does all sorts of adjustments, hands, wrists, collar bone, hips, ribs, head, other little bones I didnt even know I had or know could be adjusted and various muscle work and stuff. Its bloody fabulous!!!!!
I dont need too much done these days but stripping generally means that i have at least one adjustment per month. (-:

I don't think its good to go too often. You need to use it in addition to strength training your back and making sure you have good posture. Going to a chiropractor too often creates a dependancy on them...which is not healthy. An every once in a while adjustment is good...going all of the time because you don't feel good unless you go will cause other problems.

But, yeah...I especially liked the electrical stimulation after an adjustment...I walked out feeling like I was floating on air.

I agree! And I don't trust a lot of chiropractors. I've even heard something about adjustments causing strokes. I'm not saying it can't help or it's all bullshit, but it's not for me.

I've tried two chiropractors. One I went to once and I felt great afterwards. He cracked my back, no problem. then I went to another one and he had trouble adjusting my back and kept bugging me to come back three times a week. I mean his office would call constantly saying they were "worried" about me and wanted me to come back. They even asked my co worker when I was coming back. It was very annoying. Finally I told them my car broke down and I had no transportation so they'd stop calling and bugging me.

Pilates has made me feel better than either of the two chiropractors I went to.

    VG,

Did you like your chiropractor? The one I went to--this was 10 years ago--was in Park Ridge. PM a recommendation?

There's a woman-owned practice about 2 blocks from my house. May check that out, too.

Back in the late 90s when I actually made very good money, I used to go four times a week to correct a slight curvature. Didn't hurt that she was pretty hot, I admit.

I recommend it for anyone to at least try.

I would love to see one. Will my insurance cover it?

I dated one briefly. It was great. All the adjustments I wanted. Made the break-up much harder, though.

I used to see a holistic chiropracter. Same training as a normal chiropracter, they just make more gentle adjustments, over a longer period. He was great. Everyone noticed the improvement in my posture. I miss going so much.

Biz trip wrapping up this afteroon & I have a flt back home on those spine unfriendly AA coach seats. To my credit, ran & biked last nite in the hotel gym.

Dating a chiropractor? Never did that; did date a woman who could crack my lower back superbly--probably stayed with her longer than I should have based on that one thing.

Love mine also but i have moved 5 hours from him. should go see him sometime soon. had a fall last night, long story short dress pole tole trick= my head hitting floor and a horrid headach to follow. feels alright today neck and back sore but otherwise alright.

oh back to chiropractors LOVE MINE!!!! wish he was closer. he adjusted my oldest when she was about a month or two old. she wouldn't ride in the carseat without screaming, sleep in her bed she had to be held to sleep. after the adjustment she slept in the car on the way home, slept throught the night in her bed. I was so happy. those with kids know how nice it is to sleep. she has been back a few times. she turns 5 in a month.
