    Default Returning to the Gym

Yep, i'm doing it. I just got myself a months membership. I've not been to the gym on a regular basis in about 10 years! If i'm going to return to dancing when i get to the US though, i'm going to have to do something. I've become so pudgy

Has anyone else taken a really long leave from training before to go back? How did it go?

I joined a gym last winter for the first time in my life. I found it pretty easy to stick with, and have gone down four dress sizes. Be very firm with yourself about going for the first few weeks while you're still forming the habit. Once you start seeing results, it becomes almost addictive.

I took the whole summer off before returning to work and to working out. OMG, I gained about 10 lbs from that time off. I recommend starting slow, as in lighter weights and some easier cardio-don't try to run 5 miles the first day! Well, that is, unless you HAVE been keeping up with cardio workouts. Then jump right into that. And Grace is right-You have to be strict on going to the gym. Don't get discouraged.
I lifted weights 3 days a week and did hard cardio for 5 days, light cardio the other 2 days. Just stick with it-you'll see results soon enough and that is enough to keep you going!

I haven't been in about 6 months. I moved, so its a lot further away. I want to start exercising again, and I will dammit!! Good for the mind, body, and bank account. Look at it as a neccessity. Stick with it and good luck!

I started back in August after over 3 1/2 years off. It's been tough, but I'm starting to see results when I look in the mirror and I can definitely see the difference in my income!!! I've already lost 8 pounds...another 12 to go and I'm gonna take myself sky diving.

Sticking to it is so easy once you make a habit of it. I kept myself really disciplined the first few weeks, and now, I work-out as often, but it's just part of my routine to go...I don't feel normal without it.

    Gah!!!
I didn't go to the gym for a year, started up 2 months ago. I have been going religiously for 5 days a week, an hour of cardio (min) every time plus 4 days of weight training.

    And I've gained 6 pounds.

This whole time I've been very cautious about my diet too. Lots of raw foods and proteins. No junk, no sodas, nada crapola.

And I'm heavier than I was when I was getting my exercise driving to class and drinking Socko.

Hun an hour of cardio is way more than you need for maximum fat burning.

Also you mentioned what you are NOT eating but what exactly ARE you eating and drinking?

I have heard of people working out and eating incorrectly and therefore not losing the pounds but to gain 6 whole pounds sounds strange.

Maybe it's all muscle. When I hit the gym hard I "gain weight" but it's good weight. My clothes are looser, and my body is more tight. Have u measured yourself. Also..throw out the scale it's not good for u

You sound like me. I was going religiously until I got hit with the flu. AFter I was over that, I tried working out again and got all woosey. A friend of mine told me my body hadn't fully repaired from the flu. I haven't been back since and I'm gaining weight..not alot but it's to much if I want to continue dancing (side note, I'm taking a break from dancing so it's all good)

But I think either tomorrow, or Thurs I'm going to kickstart my workout regimine once again. I'm so excited..I'm so used to jumping in as if I never stopped...I have to learn to pace myself.

yeah, you have to look at it like a necessity. I liken it to wearing makeup or shaving. Just something I do to make me look and feel better, which translates into money. It's an investment!

I just started working out again and it is hard to get going again, but really feels good to move the body. My abs are sore! Take some nude pics now and then every month or so for motivation. I also put little stickers on a calendar when I workout.

I've had body fat measured and it's gone up 2% and water weight is down a bit.
I am not giving up though.

Yep...one day back, and my abs are so sore.

I love the cross trainer, that thing is cool

They have all this new strange equipment, like the power plate? I'm guessing it works though...cause it hurts!
