    Default Spokesmodel royalties?

I've just been offered a job to be a spokesmodel for adult webcamming software. The job includes speaking at industry events, but mostly being in print advertisements and posters (mostly featured in the office or on their flyers) fully clothed. They have offered to pay my hourly wage for the shoot (I was thinking around 50 p/hour), and then for the rights to the pictures. How much should I be asking in terms of these rights or 'royalties'? From what I can tell, my pictures will be used on everything and I will be the new face of the company. How much is standard for this kind of gig? Even though I will be clothed, I feel it should be a fair amount as it will be advertised in and associated with porn, but I don't want to ask so much that they laugh in my face. This is a small-ish company also, only employing 5 or 6 people on the software side, and then 17 chathostesses on the webcamming side.

    I have NO idea.

Off the top of my head...

$2000 for the rights to the pics, plus your hourly wage for the shoot, plus an hourly wage everytime you speak/appear?

    Feature costumes for sale!

If it's such a small company, demand a cut in the profits. Stock options.

Thanks guys...yeah Scarlett, I was thinking around there 2,000 or so. Though stock options sound like a good idea, I'm such a newb at this. It's owned by one guy, I don't know if he sells stock...but this software is incredibly cutting edge and I know that he's going to make craploads on it, just like he did the last time he realeased HD streaming for the first time...

Thanks for your suggestions. I negotiate with him on Fri.

for 'non-adult' print work here in Australia for something relatively small, a $1,000 shoot rate would entitle the client to 12 month's use of a particular image (set of images) in 'press' and 'flyer'. you would want to negotiate extra fees for point of sale banners, another few hundred for website, and each magazine placement another few hundred depending on the page size.

because it's 'adult' it would be sensible to put another $1,000+ on the general usage, especially if you do modelling in the 'non-adult' world.

after 12 months, they pay again. just make sure you get it all down in writing. a couple of grand for them to use you forever just won't do. make it $2,000+ just for 1 year just for basic usages. anything else and they're just dicking you.

work out a package deal for them, and make sure they declare each and every type of medium they plan to put you in. then watch them like hawks to see where your face pops up and to make sure they're sticking to the agreement.

Be careful negotiating for "stock options" and profit sharing. It's a gamble. The only way to gaurantee you get paid is to get a straight payrate and get it in writing. Even if this guy has been successful in the past, there's no guarantee he'll be that successful again. There's also the whole bookkeeping issue - many companies' paper profit is significantly lower than what the owner is actually pocketing. Especially if they're small companies.

I'd be more inclined to negotiate a fair direct pay rate, only SLIGHTLY reduced in consideration of a small profit % arrangement. This way if the company goes belly-up, you still got paid something reasonable, but if it does hit the big time, you can benefit from that too.
