Default Yeast Infection With Pelvic Pain???

I don't know what is going on with me, but over the past few days I have had bad pelvic pain. It feels like the lympnodes in my pelvic area are swollen too. I also feel like I have a yeast infection at the same time. I have never had pelvic pain with a yeast infection before. I have not had sex in over a week and I am married so I don't think it's an STD, but what could it be? I feel sharp shooting pains when I stand up quickly. It just feels miserable. The annoying feeling of a yeast infection coming on with pelvic pain I plan on going to the Doctor, but I am confused.

My only guess is PID? Im no professional though. The CDC says its not just caused by gonorrhea or chlamydia but other bacterias instead. Hope everything gets checked soon. Try to avoid stress (I know hard to do right now) and eat healthy with little or no booze.

Yeah could be PID, which you can get even if you don't have an STD. Only a doc can tell you for sure though. Or ectopic pregnancy, maybe. Get to the doc soon, those can be dangerous.

Thank all for the advice. I have heard of PID, but I thought it was an STD. I called my Dr. today and made an appointment. I explained to them my symptoms and they said it did not sound like an emergency and scheduled me to come in next Wednesday. Is it possible to have PID without having an STD? I am nervous now. I sure hope that my husband has not been cheating on me or anything horrible like that. I have always been so careful and this would just be devastating to me. Venus: Should I try to find another Dr. who will see me right away???

PID is an inflammation of the uterine area.

Here is some info off of this website :

PID occurs when bacteria move upward from a woman's vagina or cervix (opening to the uterus) into her reproductive organs. Many different organisms can cause PID, but many cases are associated with gonorrhea and chlamydia, two very common bacterial STDs. A prior episode of PID increases the risk of another episode because the reproductive organs may be damaged during the initial bout of infection.

Sexually active women in their childbearing years are most at risk, and those under age 25 are more likely to develop PID than those older than 25. This is because the cervix of teenage girls and young women is not fully matured, increasing their susceptibilty to the STDs that are linked to PID.

The more sex partners a woman has, the greater her risk of developing PID. Also, a woman whose partner has more than one sex partner is at greater risk of developing PID, because of the potential for more exposure to infectious agents.

Women who douche may have a higher risk of developing PID compared with women who do not douche. Research has shown that douching changes the vaginal flora (organisms that live in the vagina) in harmful ways, and can force bacteria into the upper reproductive organs from the vagina.

Women who have an intrauterine device (IUD) inserted may have a slightly increased risk of PID near the time of insertion compared with women using other contraceptives or no contraceptive at all. However, this risk is greatly reduced if a woman is tested and, if necessary, treated for STDs before an IUD is inserted.

PID USUALLY occurs with an STD. However, it can be caused by ANY bacteria that makes its way up. I had PID after a rape (for obvious reasons). My symptoms were quite severe...fever, intense pain (all the time...), and foul discharge. You do not have to have symptoms to have PID. But, don't go jump off the deep end and think that your hubby is cheating if you have PID. You may just have a more severe case of yeast infection (or even vaginiosis). Either way, if you've had sex with your husband at all recently, it would be important for him to be treated, too. No use in you getting treated to have sex with him while he went untreated to have to start all over again. If you are worried about STD's, then make sure you get tested.

If you are really worried about it, I would advise seeing if your doctor will get you in sooner. I'm kind of surprised that you mentioned Pelvic Pain to them (with a discharge) and they think its ok to wait a week. When I had my PID (mind you, this was about 13 years ago) my mom called and said "discharge, pelvic pain" and they made me rush in. If you cannot get in to see your own doc, maybe taking a trip to Planned Parenthood (tell them you think you may have an STD) would help you.

Venus, Thank you so much. You are the best. I am sorry to hear that you had to go through a rape. I was raped when I was 17 so I empathize completely. I had Sex with my husband last week. I do not really think that he is cheating, but of course with the pelvic pain that I am having I am concerned. I think that I will try to go to a planned parenthood right away. I do not have foul discharge, it just looks like the discharge that goes along with a yeast infection. I am not very itchy though. It is more the pelvic pain that is bothering me. Thank you again venus.

I would still suggest he see about getting treated. Just so you are both clean and no need to worry about this anymore.

    Let me know what happens!

I will make sure that my husband is tested as well and will demand for him to go to the Dr. as well. I will let you know what happens.
