Default venus + other mommies, advice???

Sorry to point you out, but I noticed you're due in dec.. I'm due nov 19 w/ my second. With my first, I would just look at food and gain weight, with this one the opposite is true. I'm a few days shy of 36 wks. and can't gain weight. I've gained 11 so far. I do lunges/squats,etc. this time but not that many! Maybe it's chasing after my son- he is very active. I seriously think my metabolism has sped up with this one. True, my app. has not been stellar this whole time, but I am forcing myself to eat, and I still can't gain anything substantial. I originally wanted to gain 20-25 lbs, now I'd just like to hit 15. Dr. says I'm measuring perfectly and the kids growth seems fine. Am I just stressing too much? What does everyone think?

Each pregnancy is different. I'm huge with this pregnancy...but not with Makayla. I'm almost 33 weeks and I've gained 11 pounds...doc says that I should gain about another pound a week until I deliver...so if baby is on-time, I should hit around 19 pounds...same as with Makayla.

At this stage, its not so important to how MUCH you eat, as it is WHAT you eat. Take your pre-natals, eat healthy, protein-rich, nutrient-rich, vitamin-rich foods and you'll be fine...even if you do not gain much more weight. I've completely lost my appetite now. I may eat 1 or 2 times a day. Even then, I don't finish a full serving of anything. But, I do substitute with a nutritious protein drink and I still take my vitamins...my belly is expanding (quickly) but nicely.

Just enjoy the last few weeks you have. Don't stress. As long as baby is growing and your belly is at the size it should be...you are fine. Stressing is only going to make things worse.

    Congrats!!

If your doc says the baby is fine and all the growth parameters are normal, please try not to worry. I have no idea what you weighed before you got pregnant, but I know if a woman has pounds to drop prepregnancy, she may not gain as much weight as the textbooks say she should. Trust your baby's growth and know that babies take what they need from the mother. The mother has to be in pretty bad shape before the baby will suffer.

There isnt much you can do at this point. Yout time is almost over. I know a few docs that believe you can safely deliver at 36 weeks but that extra time inside helps. I drank a lot of ensure to help pack on the pounds and get some good vitamins. It helped to a point.

Every body is different and every pregancy is different, if you are measuring out fine don't worry, don't worry either way, that is how I went into labor. It sounds like you are healthy and the baby is fine, so good luck with your labor and your second child. Congrats

I would go with what your doctor is telling you. Just make sure you're eating properly, and try to "graze", eating many smaller meals throughout the day. I've only had one child, but let me tell ya my mother had three girls. She was horribly ill with all of us. Barely ate a thing, but doctor said we were fine. Oldest sis was 8 pounds, older sis was 10lb 5 oz and I was 10lb, 2oz. Yes, my mom had some large ones! I went through a period where I'd lose and gain back during my pregnancy and my son was 8lb 10 oz and 22.5 inches long.

Each pregnancy is differnt. I gained 73 lbs with my son..... Yeah OK pick up your jaw now. LOL.

As long as the doctor isnt worried I wouldnt be ether.

Eat balanced meals. The right amount of carbs, veggies etc.... Dont go eat a big mac because its full of fat. Whats important are your vitamins and sticking to differnt food groups.

Your baby is at the point where the BABY itself gains 1 lb per week. As long as the babies doing that and has the appropriet(sp?) amount of fluid then thats whats important.

Do you plan to breastfeed? If so you might gain weight or loose it. I personally STAYED big untill I breastfed less... Your body stores back up calories.

Your body is a crazy smart thing. Again. If the doctors not worried I wouldnt be ether.

Everything that's been said here is accurate. All pregnancies are different.

I had a friend who had two kids; the first pregnancy she gained 50lbs, the 2nd only 15lbs. Both kids were somewhere around 7.5 lbs.

Myself I was pretty much the same for all three with weight gains of about 50-60lbs with each kid with thier weights being 9-10lbs.

It doesn't sound like your OB is worried about it so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Just try to make what you eat count; lots of healthy munchies, less of the empty (yet decidedly yummy lol) junk food stuff.

9 years ago I gained very little weight while pregnant with my son. Food just didn't appeal to me while I was pregnant, so I made sure when I did eat I made good food choices. I gave birth to a beautiful and healthy 7lb. 9oz boy! And I went home from the hospital in my pre-pregnancy jeans! If the doc is ok with everything, you should be too. Enjoy your pregnancy, relax, and get ready for all the joy thats to come.
