    Default Healthy vegetarians

After some diet flip flopping Im finding out less cheese and no red meat are best for me. Also veggies work best for me too. I guess Im going to limit my red meat to one serving a week since it takes forever to digest anyways.

I was wondering if any of you have found a website or healthy vegetarian cookbook or recipes that list the amounts of calories, fats and carbohydrates?

I found one (SparkPeople) but maybe you can help find others?

Vegetarian times magazine has great recipes and nutrition articles. Recipes are posted on thier website (with calorie info) at:

While not a vegetarian magazine, Cooking light has many recipes that happen to have no meat:

I love veg cook books, so I have about 50... but I can't remember off-hand which have calorie info (i'm currently traveling) I'll check them when I get home.

Recipezaar.com has all kinds of recipes. They also have a little vegan/vegetarian forum.

buy the MasterCook Delux soft6ware at valuesoft.com.

it will tell you vegetarian recepies and all nutrition ifno, amd it will also allow you to edit any recipe or input your own, t6hen it will give ytou the nutrition info of those recipes. For example, if you want to make your mom's chili recipe but use crumbles inst6ead of meat, you can entr the recipe, add or change whatever you want, and then get all the nutrition info. That also makes it easier to tweak recipies to have, say, more or less protein or carbs or whatever, or if you decide you want to throw in some ingredient or other to use it up, or if you have to leave anything out, you can quick change the recipe and get a revised calorie count.

Good luck with the vegetarian thing. I went hardcore vegan for about 6 months, and I felt so tired and irritable the whole time, then did ovo-lacto for about a year, but I never felt as healthy as I do when I have a balanced diet with a bit of meat every other day or so. I did lots of soy, beans, tofu, etc, but my body just couldn't hack it :-(

    healthy vegetarian = gas

    enjoy! *poot*

I don't cook so I can't help. Basically I eat pasta, brown rice and vegetables with tofu (and some sauce, like curry or general tso), veggie wraps, bean burritos....lots of frozen foods.

I recently saw a big book of low-fat vegetarian recipes at Borders. They actually had a few including a Weight Watchers one. I almost got the huge one, but then I put it down because I know how I am. I absolutely do not cook! I would cook more if it wasn't just me.

    Emily is right about Borders.
Barnes and Noble too. Check out their bargain racks and they have several vegetarian cookbooks for about $5 each.
