Default want to replace 2 unilever porducts, need suggestions!

I have been trying to get away from using any product that comes from a company that tests on animals, but I absolutely cannot escape from Unilever. Not only are they Universal, but they make some damn good stuff. The two porducts I absolutely cannot live without and can't find a substitute for are Dove Facial Clensing bar for Sensitive Skin and the Sunsilk Voluminzing Hair porduct line.

    Any suggestions??

I super-love Pears Glycerin Soap from England, which is pure & not tested on animals. (However, I was told not to use soap on my face by an esthetician, so you might want to hunt for a soap-free animal-cruelty free product instead.)
The Body Shop is also a perfectly ethical business & the website runs sales often, there was a shop at my mall & their product spread is impressive.

Have you tried using sorbeline instead of soap? I dont know what brands you have over there of course, but there should be some non animal tested brands.

FYI.. Body Shop was bought out by L'Oreal which is one of the lead offenders when it comes to animal testing.

I believe Bath and Body Works is still ok though

Bath and Body Works was never ok. All they claim is they don't test finished products on animals, which I found out to mean was before adding color and fragrance.

I've noticed several independent brands of soap & lotion makers up here in Montana & Idaho....let me look around & I'll post my results later. (Guess what, potato soap exists. I saw it in Idaho. NO kidding!)

    Isn't Burt's Bee's Products eco-friendly?

Let me see if I can dig up my PETA stuff ..... I used to have all the lists of this stuff, most of which I bought back in the day. I kinda stopped being 100% animal-friendly....I really should get my as in gear though, with how much of an animal freak I am.

    EDIT:
Ok here is a link to a listing of companies that DON'T test on animals followed by a list of companies that DO test on animals.

    http://www.caringconsumer.com/resources_companies.asp

I notice that they have Bath & Body Works on the 'good' list, but as stated before, they don't test the FINISHED prouct ....I'm surprised PETA would support that.
This list must be old b/c they will have the Body Shop on there too....uh oh. I guess check out what else they have and maybe it can help you narrow down a few companies you like.

I've used Nexxus before and Paul Mitchell, and they are both on the Do NOT Test list, but I can't seem to find the name of the stuff I used that was rather inexpensive and easy to find.....I'll let you know if I remember.

I don't know what you're willing to spend but Bumble and Bumble's line of volumizing products are fantastic and I have the finest, limpest hair around. They are on the Do Not Test list.

Paul Mitchell, Abba and many salon hair products re not tested on animals.

As for non-animal tested soaps, my esthetician hand-makes hers and I can give you her e-mail. I love her soaps.

    I don't use animal-tested products either.

It's awful, but I'm more worried about getting a good product than what it was tested on. I buy cruelty-free when possible, but as a meat-eating, leather-wearing person I'm obviously not as concerned with it as vegan purists.

there are so many good products that are not tested on animals though! You don't have to support the companies that do.

For instance, philosophy makes a great cleanser called Purity that's not tested on animals.

I can't help on the volumizer.

I think I am in luck--there is a paul Mitchell school the next town over. I have luck with some Burts Bees but not all. I have really super-extremely skin that breaks out in one of several messy problems if I use any products with the wrong chemials in them, and so I am realy afraid to try anything. I know we have the Pares soap in Walgreens, so I will try that. Thanks, Ladies. I knew I could depend on you!

Have you tried the Dr. Bronners soaps? They're all natural and organic and all that good stuff. I use the peppermint one and it makes my skin feel super clean and tingly. A lot of my friends with sensitive skin say it's the only soap they can use.
