I can't wait to be working on Valentine's Day. I will clean that place up! I don't like the holiday but it does cause helpful melancholia ; P

No ones even heard of Sweetest Day. It has absolutely no effect on our business.
I don't know what Sweetest Day is either.

Yeah I'm mucho confused-o.

^^^It's a holiday like Valentine's Day, only it's not as well-known. I think it's dumb and I think Hallmark invented it just so they could sell more cards. We already have a Valentine's Day-we don't need a Sweetest Day. I don't think it'll have any effect on business. Like many other people, I didn't remember it either.

IMO it's a midwest version of Valentine's Day. I think for people in the midwest it could affect money. There are people who are a couple who are going to be out with their girls...but on the other hand the single guys will be out all alone looking for some loving. I hope it's a good night for you girls!!

How, when and where it originated.

It's never affected my money, and this year we have the world series baby! (Of course that could just mean more drunk inexperienced SC-goers)![]()

A Mid-west only holiday?? That is kind of cool, actually. Is it instead of Valentines day or in addition to Valentines Day?
I wonder if we celebrate any holidays here on the west coast that isn't shared by the rest of the country?
I've never had any problem making money on Valentines Day, if that is of any help.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Nah, I woudln't necessarily call it a mid-west only holiday I think it's just celebrated more. I mean at school for the past 2 weeks all you hear is people saying, "so what are you doing for Sweetest Day" it's like a Fall version of Valentines day. I even got my girlfriend a Sweetest Day Card!Originally Posted by Paris

Well, thanks, it does seem to be mostly noted here in the MW. I don't have any gr8 feeling for it, just a HM holiday. I was just wondering about it, 'cause I'd like to go sell outfits door to door.

I've lived in the midwest my entire life and have never heard of anyone I know celebrating or speaking of Sweetest Day. I've seen signs for it in flower shops and card stores, but that's it.
Midwesterner's might be podunk, but we aren't so stupid as to buy into a made up holiday (unless you count Christmas, lol).
Check out my new eBay auctions.......
Actually, Great Lakes and Northeast region. I suspect not very many posters have read the link I provided earlier.

It was started by Herbert Birch Kingston (not Hallmark), 87 years ago (1922) in Cleveland Ohio to recognize the underprivelaged.
FYI, Mother's Work Day was only "made-up" 63 years earlier, and didn't actually become Mother's Day until 2 years earlier (1920).
I supect Sweetest Day never caught on the way he had hoped as it is geared more towards those less fortunate, and sounds more like an off season Valentine's Day.
