It kinda sucks. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a necessary evil, but it gets outta hand so quick!

I heard Scores was paying $60 per, I wonder...

It does get out of hand fast. from what i understand....before when it got so out of hand, all the major club owners got together and decided they would all stop paying the cabs. Only a few clubs did not keep their agreement and kept paying them....so all the clubs had to jump on and start paying also, and here it starts again with the cab wars.

I heard Scores was paying 40, but All I know for fact is SR and Sap.

I guess I'd better get ready for even higher cover charges (or perhaps they will increase stage fees?). This money's got to come from someplace.

You do realize that there is a point of diminishing returns that will eventually kick in here don't you?

    Or more than likely both.

Yep, I think the decision to not go to Vegas next year is looking smarter all the time. I mean, why pay a $30 cover and $8-12 a drink for the priveledge of being hustled to death.

You can always have the cabbie drop you off around the corner. Then walk in and tell them a cab didn't bring you. Or rent a car, or carpool, there are options...........

This is essentially good for the clubs, at least for a while....

........it doesn't matter, they still charge you the same inflated cover charge whether you arrive by cab or not. Best bet would be to get the cabbie to not charge for the ride as he will be getting paid under the table for you anyways.

Actually, they do not charge inflated cover weather you arrive by cab or not. Typicially, locals are free, arrive by your own transportation its like, 10 bucks, and by cab its 20.

Last time I was there (maybe 3 months ago) it was $30, I even showed them my car keys to show that I drove, it didn't matter.

LMAO $50-$60 a head, here comes the cabbie's pushing to take you to their fav. club now. I'll definitely stick to driving now.

In fact, the only place that I've paid cover at this year is Treasures.

I got in a cab once in Vegas, said, "Olympic Garden."

The cabbie stared at me, said, "It's closed for three days." I got out, went to the next cab, said, "Olympic Garden." He glared at me, put the cab in gear, and drove me there. Evidently, OG's had pissed off the cabbies by refusing to play the kickback game. I tipped him.

Went in, and there was a door guy and a taller dark-haired guy with a moustache. They asked me how I was doing. I told them fine, except I had to root through cabs to get here. The taller guy asked about the story, was grateful for me working to get there, angry at the cabs, waived my cover, and bought me a drink. Somebody said he was the owner. I don't know.

    Yeah, it should be interesting.

Didn't it get to $100 before they finally got together and tried to make the switch to not paying?

There have been a small number of clubs that have been paying for a while but it does seem to be getting carrried away again. The funny thing is that with new clubs opening and some fairly new ones trying to stay afloat, girls are getting free house fees, which means the increase to pay the cabbies is most likely going to affect the customers more than the girls.

Fuck, I just tell them I work there sometimes, no charge. But I guess that doesn't help you boys.

Hmmm, I've been out of the loop. I didn't realize the clubs were paying this much to the cab drivers. I've had drivers get me into the club for free. Others wouldn't or couldn't do it.

But I've never had a driver pressure me to go to a specific LV club. They've always taken me to whatever club I wanted to go to, including OG.

I'll be in town the end of Nov & early Dec, so I'll ask for an off the meter ride to the clubs. I would think they would do it for a few bucks tip and the nice kickback. I have to take a cab though. I like to drink when I visit my favorite haunts, and I won't drive in that condition.

I don't get it? Who cares what the cabbies get, as long they take you to the clubs. It will give the cabbies a reason to talk guys that want to see hot girls, to talk them into stripclubs instead of taking them to The Palms clubs or other nightclubs where they actually have a better chance of hooking up with girls. If your so worried about paying a cover charge, how cheap are? Maybe I'm just spoiled with New York City men who don't seem to mind paying covers and 20dollar drinks.

Not that anyone here would really know, but most people don't consider me cheap. In fact, I'm sure a few of my friends think I'm a little foolish with my money.

At any rate, I don't care how much the cabbies make. But if I see an angle, I'll try to take advantage of it. A lot of times it not really about the money. I just enjoy working out a good deal when possible. But I won't go out of my way to save a few dollars. That's a waste of time.

And less money spent on cab rides and cover charge = more money for dances.

It comes down to this: there is a time for trying to save a few bucks, and there is a time for not letting the concern over a dollar ruin a good time.

When push comes to shove, I'll spend without any worry whatever I need to make sure I have a good evening out.

I'm considering a new job. Hustling cab rides to the highest strip club bidder in Vegas.

The club owners do, because with this system in place, the cabbies have power to take potential customers somewhere else.

It will give the cabbies a reason to talk guys that want to see hot girls, to talk them into stripclubs instead of taking them to The Palms clubs or other nightclubs where they actually have a better chance of hooking up with girls.
Guys who get into a Vegas cab intending on going to a regular nightclub aren't to my knowledge being subjected to this scam. It's more a matter of guys intending to go to strip club A, being persuaded to go to strip club B, because the cabbie knows that strip club B is offering him a better kickback.

If your so worried about paying a cover charge, how cheap are?
I'm not worried about paying a cover charge. Most strip clubs I've been to have them. But the primary reason that cover charges in Las Vegas are the extortive amounts that they are is because of the kickbacks. This isn't a matter that strip club customers in most cities have to deal with so I can't blame people for bristling at the prices, or trying to find an edge. They came to spend their money on dancers after all, not an indirect tip to an entitlement oriented cabbie.

Of course, I think it needs to be stated that if a club is charging $30/head to get in, and is giving cabbies $50/head kickbacks, well, that $20 deficit has to be made up somewhere. Hmmm......

Interestingly, everyone in the club should care at some level. When cab fares go up, generally the cover and/or drink prices go up in order for the club to make money. That money comes right out of the customers pockets. That money was most likely going to be spent in the club that night on dancers/dances.

Example: Cab drops off 4 customers. Club pays the cab driver $200 for dropping them off, then charges them all $30 cover. Club has already lost $80 on these customers(actually more after LET tax). Additionally, the customers are walking into the club $120 lighter before meeting their first dancer. Multiply that by how many folks take cabs to strip clubs and you can see how much money cab fares take out of the dancers pockets.

Um, there's also a 15,000 head convention in LV that starts Wed morning. Lots of folks arriving in town Tuesday night for that and looking to party...

WOW, and I thought the beer wars in Tulsa were rediculous! They get low like, dollar long necks and such. 25cents long necks befre 9pm .. crap like that.
    Cab wars seem nasty.
