Default Coworker gave out my name!

I don't feel like going into detail, just wanted to say its truly fucked up. Someone I work with apparently gave a customer my full name.

He called the club about 30 min after he left, club handed me the phone thinking it was someone I knew because he ASKED FOR ME BY MY FULL NAME. Then he called me by my nickname (hardly anyone knows it, very creepy) and said that he told me he'd find out. And that he was an FBI agent, and it was nice meeting me... and that he knew much much more than that. And that he'd be seeing me around.

Police said there's no crime involved there unless he threatens or stalks me. Went home early, and I'm SO fucking nervous it's not even funny. I have no idea who gave him my name.

    Comments, anyone?

I'm not sure how true this is, but I once read on a stalking paper that you should go to the department of motor vehicles and list yourself as unsearchable b/c if someone has your plate # they can get your name and addy by paying a fee.

    UGH!

Are you sure it's not someone who already knows you & is pulling some messed-up prank? Do you have a suspicion of which customer it is, someone who has been creeping you out....?

Be careful. From what he said, he sounds like a power-tripper & he'll just get a big kick out your distress...I think it would be a good idea if he calls back, to accuse him of being someone you already know, tell him, "Cut it out already," in a non-serious tone.

Call the FBI and tell them the dude is impersonating an agent. That should be fun for him.

^Agreed. If he really was an FBI agent he wouldn't be going around telling people that. I don't think he would risk his job. A creepy stalker guy (at least the stranger variety and not someone who got obsessed after you dated) is probably paranoid about people finding information about him, and goes above and beyond to protect his true identity.

First of all, that's so fucked up.

Change the address of your car registration. It is not that big a pain in the ass---you only have to do tag and title, but you can keep licence and insurance to current address. I suppose that technically it is illegal, but I had a guy taking pictures of my tag on his cell and tell me how great it was that he could come to where I live---the only thing he is going to get is the wrong address.

Thanks to all the assholes I am hesitant to give out my real name even when I'm out OTC.

Take this as a lesson the hard way, NEVER tell anyone your full name or where you live. I tell people I live in my old neighborhood and no one knows my real deal.

Incidently, if you do change your registration and you get pulled over, cops are generally pretty lenient about it if you tell them some sob story about a guy harrassing you. I've gotten away with it, and cops in FL are usually not very nice.

Yes - it's a federal crime to impersonate an officer of the law and it's likely a crime in your state as well.

This individual may not be guilty of "stalking" as your state defines it but is certainly guilty of harassment once he contacts you a second time. You must keep a detailed record of all of his attempts to communicate with you and then go file a police report.

As for the c*nt who did this to you: time for a serious confrontation. I'd even talk to your manager.

Manager didn't care. He doesn't care about anything, really, except that he makes more money than everyone there. He could care less about the girls.

As for the girl, I'd love to beat her ass if I could find out who it was.

How much does it cost to change the tag and title typically?
