Is wine a light alcohol beverage?
I found this if it helps:
There are three basic types of alcoholic drinks.
Beer is made from fermented grains and has an alcohol content of three to six percent.
Wine is made from fermented fruits and has an alcohol content of 11 to 14 percent. Some wine drinks, such as wine coolers, have fruit juice and sugar added, lowering alcohol content to between four and seven percent. Fortified wines, such as port, have alcohol added, bringing alcohol content to between 18 and 20 percent.
Liquor is made by distilling a fermented product to yield a drink that usually contains 40 to 50 percent alcohol. The alcohol content in liquor is sometimes indicated by degrees of proof, which in the United States is a figure twice as high as the percentage. Thus, 80-proof liquor is 40 percent alcohol.
A 12-ounce glass of beer, a 5-ounce glass of wine, and a 1.5-ounce shot of liquor all contain the same amount of alcohol and, therefore, have an equal effect on the drinker. All three forms of alcohol have the same potential for intoxication and addiction.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

I'm a light weight, it takes me two to get drunk. One to get a buzz.
Cheap ass date here. lol

What do you mean by 'light'? Light in calories, or light in alcohol?
Try Malibu Rum and Orange Juice(or pineapple juice) it goes down very easy but it doesnt get you drunk to fast. If you want light in calories go for vodka/soda
I love Malibu and pineapple or orange juice.... also I've really been liking cherry bombs- same as a jager bomb, but with cherry doctor instead. I can do a bunch of those before I start to get a buzz... so they're great if you drink at work and don't want to get drunk. I think cherry doctor is only about 30% alcohol... not sure what malibu is.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.

Alcohol. I'm going to a Halloween party this wknd & I don't want anything strong. I don't drink every wknd, or heavily. Just on ocassions i'll have one or two. I'm on Accutane too and don't want anything heavy.Originally Posted by dlabtot

I think it's best if I stick to wine then?
Lowest alcohol calorie wise is scotch, it's even lower than vodka.
As for alcohol content, don't opt for wine, especially red, there's something in it that also makes a lot of people sleepy.
Check out calorieking.com ... the Australian version lists alcohol content so I'm thinking the American one does too?
Malibu/Orange doesnt get you drunk fast at all... I think its easier then wine... but go what your comfortable with.

This is what I do when I don't want to overdo it. Another lightweight here!Originally Posted by Vyanka
I find that you don't drink wine as fast as you do everything else; you tend to sip wine so you don't get as drunk. Try to eat with whatever alcohol you're having and you should be fine. Enjoy!
It kinda depends on you personally too. I can drink hard liquor all night before it affects me, but one or two glasses of wine and I usually have a buzz.

As long as you stick to only having one or two, you'll be fine... as noted above 12-ounce glass of beer = a 5-ounce glass of wine = a 1.5-ounce shot --- so it's not really WHAT you drink, but HOW MUCH. Yes there are subjective differences sometimes like when someone says that tequila hits them harder than other drinks or something like that, but in general all drinks are the same with about the same potential for getting you drunk... unless the bartender is over or under pouring.Originally Posted by Vyanka
One other factor to remember however is the speed at which you are drinking. You metabolise about one drink per hour so there is a huge difference between nursing two drinks over the course of an hour and doing two shots all at once.

That makes sense to me Dlabtot.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone.![]()
girl wine makes me fucked up. 2 glasses and im ready to throw panties at would be rock stars on the street.
If you order drinks just get something with a splash of liquor.

Be careful Tart, lol! There's now gonna be a bunch of guys walking around outside your club with guitars slung over their shoulders carrying jugs of vino.Originally Posted by Tart

I have red wine and I turn into a narcoleptic. I am a huge lightweight myself, mostly because I rarely drink anymore (for whatever reason...I used to be such a wino in high school, lol).
When I drink, I'll have a vodka lime, and nurse it for a long while. If you go slow, you'll be fine.
I've had people (or bartenders...) hand me shots at work, just to see me swing and miss on stage, all drunkymonkey like. It's funny for THEM. Now I'm wise to their schemes.

I am very much a lightweight. I drink wine only, and water it down with juice or sprite. Another trick I learned from another dancer is to drink a FULL glass of water (or you could substitute soda, juice, or tea) between your drinks. This will definitely slow your drinking speed down.
I think it has lots of calories, but Amaretto sours are my fave to sip on and not drink too much...

Campari maybe.

You could order a wine spritzer. It is a mixture of white wine and soda water. The soda water helps save on the calories as well.

The only problem with wine is the extremely bad hangover it WILL give you even if you only have just a little bit. Best to carry around water with you if you plan on drinking wine, as even a wine that isn't dry (hangovers caused by dehydration) will have you running for bottled water.

maybe just have some wine coolers mixed with sprite..?? Maybe half wine cooler and half sprite.or less than half. That would keep you sober and taste good too.
