    Default platinum blonde?

i cant decide if i should dye my hair platinum blonde and cut it into the leg avenues girl's hairstyle (long platinum blonde with long straight bangs, picture attached). its something ive been thinking about for a good 8 months or so now but im so scared to do it.

i have dark brown hair now, always have, and its taken me so long to grow it out. im afraid with all the bleach ill have to cut tons of it off and itll look all horrible and fried... or what if it just looks bad and then i start losing money at work.

ahh.. cant decide. tell me what you ladies think. if i do it ill be one of 2 blondes at my club (the other has very different hair) instead of 1 of 20 brunettes. thats my picture in my avator... comments, suggestions...???

I love that hair cut. I have thin hair so I cant have the bangs she has. If you have thicker hair you can have bangs like those. I would talk to your stylist about how hard it would be to go back if you didnt like it. Or go try on a platinum real hair wig and see if you like the color and/or cut. Otherwise, being 1 of 2 blondes would def. make you stand out.

I think it's very hot. Make sure you have a good stylist though, because going dark brown to platinum is a HUGE process, and can turn out really bad if the person doesn't know what they're doing. The cut isn't that different, so you wouldn't be losing tons of length, and you shouldn't have TOO much damage, once again, if you have a good stylist.

I'm going the opposite right now, getting ready to dye my hair dark brown and red, and I have platinum hair

I'm a natural dark brunette who's gone blonde several times. I'm also a stylist. The trick to minimizing damage is doing it slowly. Trying to go all blonde in one day can cause tons of damage and usually ends up in uneven decolorization. You'll be yellow in some spots and orange in others... not good.

Keep going to your stylist for heavy highlighting until you get to your desired result. For me, it usually takes 4-5 sessions. This is not something you want to attempt at home!!! I see plenty of fucked up hair from people who try DIY blonding. Also, platinum may not be the most flattering hue for you. A good colorist will help you find the most complimentry blonde for you.

It's also a huge commitment. Between services, use a color safe shampoo and conditioner, deep condition once a week with a moisturizing hair mask, and use a protein building treatment for two to three shampoos prior to going into the salon for further decolorizing. You're also going to have to lower the heat setting on all your styling tools, including your hair dryer.

    The cut is super hot!

The upkeep of being that blonde with naturally dark hair is constant. I would consult with a good stylist who will be honest about what would be best for your hair. Some hairdresser's will do anything for money, regardless of your hair health or it's potential for damage.

I put my hair in the hands of a great colorist about a year ago and she forbid me from anything blonde. lol. Well, she basically said she wouldn't do it and she advised against it. I ended up getting the best color job I've ever had and have been going to her ever since.

There are tons of fun colors and styles that don't involve bleaching the crap out of your hair. I've seen too many cotton candy heads of blonde to think it's a good plan.

As a blond ( You can see the pic in my avatar ) I can tell you the maintenance is killer - every three weeks I go to my stylist.. heavy highlights! I highly recommend biolage products.

Then again the results are SO worth it. Find a stylist you adore. Plus the cut is super hot, very sexy.

I have naturally very dark brown hair...I decided to go paltinum..and being cheap i did it myself with Maxi Blond and a light ash blond toner...it came out AWESOME...pretty much the shade of Pam Anderson's 9I don't know if that's quite what you were going for)...No, I am not recommending you do that...my hair is very strong and sturdy...but if you go to a good stylist, you would minize damage...because with two or three deep conditioning treatments, my hair was back in perfect silky condition.

i say go for it and post pics, cause that cut is hot!

omg that cut IS hotttt! It looks like the sort of haircut that many women were wearing in Quebec City. Kinda like an updated modern mullet. I love it. I want my hair cut like that but with the bangs a bit longer.

I think you should definately go for the cut and the color.

Go for it, it's better to be 1 of 2 then 1 of 20. Mia M, love you, I wish I had your advice years ago. I am ashamed to admit, I was a diy blonde, big mistake! The treatments to fix my hair were 5x as expensive as the dye job wouldhave been, and I lost alot of length due to danage. Go slowly.

my stylist said " going blonde is like having sex, the more foreplay, the better the end result"

oh, I recently got bangs, super sexy for work, they make me look more coy, and the guys are loving it!

looks like a haircut I see on a lot of wigs-- if you're that worried, try a wig with that cut and color first- even if you get an expensive $300 one, at least you can try it and see if it works money-wise, and if you like it in your personal life.

and if you don't? Well-- shoot, you've got a wig to change things up.

I vote for the blonde! I'm one of three blondes at a Portland club that has lots of girls with dark brown or black hair, and I definitely think it helps me stand out.

BTW, I've been dying my hair platinum blonde off and on for over ten years. I always do it myself and yes my hair gets pretty fucked for a while, but it bounces back! I just recently started using this leave-in conditioner by Redken called "Anti-Snap" and it's worked wonders on my hair.

Hazel I think you'd look Great with that hairstyle. And I've seen more pics of you - cause I'm in Portland too - and I think it would fit your look perfectly.

I just went blonde myself and my hairstylist (who I love) gave me very heavy highlights, it minimized the damage, and she knows I'm not vigilant about coming in frequently to cover growth. But it still is fairly blonde. You also may try the haircut first and then the dye, to get that look you may have to spend some time straightening your hair every day - yours looks like it's fairly thick, and may have some wave to it.

Anyway, I vote for yes - I think it'll look great, and you'll probably get tons of attention!

This is exactly how I went from black to blond two years ago! I did my hair all through high school and ever since. I've screwed it up enough times to know that this is the best, if not the only proper, way to get a good result!!!!!!

If you're going to go all the way to platinum, please, please, please, find a really good colorist who knows what they are doing!!!!!! I'm so sick of seeing splotchy, orange and fried blondes!!!

And BTW, I LOVE this look on the Leg Avenue model!!!!!!!!!!!!!
