Should DJ and Housemoms make more money than dancers? Agree or disagree?
on some nights yeah... but not too often where I work. at my club they try to fine the girls for being late.. so yeah sometimes they can accumulate a lot for the girls not being on time for work.
If the DJ or the housemom makes more money than a dancer, then the dancer should strongly consider another line of work!
The DJ and housemom at my club get taken care of plenty. If anyone deserves more, it's the dancers. The customers come in to see us, not them.
in my opinion, it doesnt matter if they made more or not. however, i dont think dancers should have to suffer for it. i agree with a minimum tip out though, dont get me wrong. we wouldnt have music if it wasnt for the DJ, and my house moms are great so i dont mind tipping them. but, i disagree with their whole income coming from us dancers. i wouldnt care if they got more money than us, but let it come from the club, not me.

So what of the tricks DJs play on dancers? Cutting a song short, playing the wrong song, combining 2 songs that are totally different. Where I work the managment gave the djs a bit too much control over the dancers. If a dancer was new (yet a veteran), if the dj didn't like her he could mess up her night.
I hate to sound like a conceited, ignorant dancer, but we are the reason the club has business. If there were no dancers, there would obviously be no housemoms, and the DJ's job and that of the club would be totally different.
Don't get me wrong, I love a certain housemom I've gotten to know, and one of my DJ's has become one of my best friends, and I'm all for them making good money, and I'm glad to tip out. However, our earnings shouldn't be jeopardized to bring theirs up.

As a DJ who would still like to make more money... I have to agree with that one 100%. Your not really being conceited or ignorant.Originally Posted by liltonyar
Here in Atlanta the pay scales are set up pretty fairly if you ask me. The girls (with some lazy exceptions) generally make a good deal more than housemoms and dj's.
That being said, I'm shocked at how bad some of the clubs treat the girls around here. One huge club takes 20% off the top on all credit card transactions then takes another 10% of what the girl made from the transaction... another club charges up $90 (extra) for coming in late then does 2 or 3 "promo" reviews giving away garbage like crap t-shirts and grade-B pornos (from the value bin). No biggie except that the girls who don't sell their junk are expected to hold on to the stuff until the end of the night when you guessed it, if they lost any of it then they have to pay for it. Don't get me started on the "fines" they charge for a variety of other things. Which always made me wonder in the first place..
Dancers here in Atlanta are NOT independant contractors as far as the law is concerned. That all changed with a court case in about 1995. I wonder what would happen if Home Depot charged employees a monetary sum for "infractions" at work.
I digress

You said it perfect, Bebe!! One of our housemoms is on a major power trip. She's younger than most of the dancers by the way, and she gets on us for the smallest things. But if she does an awsome job, such as having the dj skip me when i'm in the champagne or vip room, or tell me who is going to spend a lot of money, I take good care of her.
DJ's and Housemom's deserve about as much as they are willing to WORK for. I hate having to pay a DJ to NOT mess with me or paying a housemom for bringing in rich fattening food that I won't eat anyway.
A housemom that gets exceptional tips from me is one that has what I need to get through my work day, helps me repair a shoe or put my hair up or brings healthy snacks to eat. A DJ that gets exceptional tips from me is one who plays music that the crowd likes, regularly promotes the lap dances and VIPs and doesn't talk too much on the mic while I'm on stage.
Sometimes it seems like, even though we are required to pay for these services, the people who are providing said services are annoyed at us- the dancers, who are also their primary customers. If DJ's and housemoms realized that the dancers are their customers and treated us as such, likely the dancers would tip a lot better.
Exhorting the dancers for extra tips is all too common in this industry.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Not to mention that there are plenty of places that do not have DJs or housemums .....and seem to do just fine even if they are regarded as "dives"! Well, here in Australia most SCs have DJs however housemums are a foreign concept to the majority of clubs (here).
The dancer should make the most money and the DJ and Housemums should be on a wage not expecting any tips. If they are given tips, then they should be very appreciative not fuck around with you if you do not tip them esp. a certain amount. It's times like this that I am thankful for the way things work here in Australia as the majority of DJs do not work nor expect tips as they are employees of the club (the club pays them).

I disagree. WE take our clothes off and have to compete with as many other dancers as the club wants to put on a shift. They know they are going to get paid. I have seen nights in my small town clubs where the girls went home with less than the dj. Also bottom line is if the clubs are still bringing in the same nd amount of guys and everyone expects more $ from the dancer then just to go home with decent $ if she is not in a club with alot of volume then she is going to have pull extras.
I have seen too many dj's think they are on some trip where the club can't do without them or that they are the bomb b/c they know how to push a few buttons. Sadly just like dunkin donuts has their tip jar out everyoe else seems to think they are entitled to more for just doing their job. Strippers are always supposed to make more $. But since the girls don't stand up for themselves they get pimped.![]()

Trust me I totally feel where you're coming from. At my club we had the same issue with one of our main DJ's. Where girls were barely able to make $200/shift we had a DJ who consistantly bitched about how girls were stiffing him on his tips (he expected $20+ from each girl). But he was the same loser who was adding like a new deck to his mini-mansion. It was ridiculous...

^^^Did you guys speak to the management and what did they say?
I think any dj or house mom who complains about the minimums is crazy. Their job requires work, yes, but they don't have to deal w/ the custys and w/e like we do. They don't get naked. Imagine, if all the guys who come into the club had to spend a minimum amount. They should be paid what they deserve, just like us. If we were to give a bad dance, are lazy, unattentive, a custy doesn't want to get another vip or dance. But, even if we never get anything from the support staff (since some clubs have management tip outs too!) we have to pay them! It makes me so mad!!!
I recently heard my housemom complain about only making 100$ a night! She's there for maybe 7 hours, and she doesn't do very much. Plus, she works 5 nights a week, so 21 days this month, that's 2100$, if she only made 100$ a night. more them enought to live on. Ridiculous!
ok, I'm done![]()
I don't think their income should be decided in reference to ours. It is a different job, with a different pay system etc. To be perfectly honest, I resent - and I mean strongly - paying a DJ more than $10. Seriously. I hate it, and will do anything to get out of it, and I don't give a rat's ass if they dislike me. I tip the minimum unless they have made me money (like specifically and actively. Not by being present and pressing play when some guy decided to tip me) or if it is my last day at a club I've been at for a while. However, if there are 65 girls in the course of an club in an evening, and they all tip $10, the DJ may have made more than I have. I have no problem with that, and won't withhold my tip because he or she "doesn't deserve that much." In a nutshell, I don't tip the DJ out of charity - it's for a service, so I tip what the service is worth or the minimum. So what he or she makes total is no concern of mine.

Thats pretty much exactly what I was going to say. We have to suffer the most in this job, we should benefit the most. Unless someone goes out of their way then eh...Originally Posted by Jenny

More than? No. A decent, livable amount? Yes. I think a house mother should get paid by the club and tipped by the girls ONLY if they deserve the tip for being helpful in some way. DJs should (but often dont) get paid by the club, and get tied for doing a good job.

THE CLUB needs to pay these people---NOT US.
I'm getting my Dial-A-Stripper service up and running again. If you are in NYC or NJ and are interested in private party dancing, email [email protected] with your SW handle, contact info, photo (if you have one) & best time to call and I'll get back to you asap.
If you're having a party and need strippers, email me with the details and any questions you have. Thanks!
yeah,
the dancers dont need to pay these people.
the DJ and the house mom need to be paid
by the management,
sure if the dancers want to tip them
thats cool,
but its the clubs responsibility to pay them.
