I think I would like to try eating 6 little meas through out the day. I know some people swear by it. Does any body have any suggestions for small vegetarian meals between 200 and 250 calories? Thanks.

Ovo lacto or vegan?

ovo lacto. I am really not diciplined enough to go completely vegan. Besides, eggs and cheese are so easy to make, and so good!

I'm not a vegetarian anymore, but here's some small meals I used make when I was actually health concious...
Breakfast
-banana & hard boiled egg
-Protein shake and a peice of fruit
-2-4 peices of turkey bacon (do they make a soy variety?) and a piece of whole grain toast with heart healthy buttery spread
late morning snack
-half an avocado sprinkled with salt-less seasonings and fruit
-half a pbj sandwich, baby carrots & dip
-string cheese and an apple
lunch (here's where it gets tricky 'cause I normally have some sort of meat... Maybe you can think of a substitution?)
-3 oz of tuna (maybe chopped up hard boiled eggs instead?), 1/2 cup cottage cheese, salt-less seasoning tossed with mixed greens and crackers
-half a turkey sandwich (when I was a vege, I used those soy deli slices... I liked the peperoni ones best) 100 calorie bag of mini popcorn
-quick quesidilla made with a whole wheat tortilla and 1/4 cup reduced fat shredded cheese, fruit/veggies on the side
-mixed greens tossed with almond slivers, a little sesame oil and rice vinegar, a cup of miso soup, and fruit
-half a grilled cheese sandwich and a serving of tomato soup
mid day snack
I'd just combine two-three of these:
-mini bag of popcorn
-protein bar
-fruit
-veggies and dip
-hard boiled egg
-string cheese
-1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese
-1/4 cup salsa and one serving of baked tortilla chips
-just add water packette soup
I do somewhat eat that way, but I find it difficult to do 6 meals of all the same amount of calories.
For me it's easier to do something like this
300-350 cals (typically oatmeal with blueberries and soymilk)
100-150 cals (coffee with soymilk and an apple)
300-350 cals (brown rice, tofu and vegetables and a salad)
100-150 cals (plain yogurt with blueberries)
300-350 cals (bean burrito and low-fat ice cream bar)
100-150 cals (kashi bar)
I try to keep meals to be high in protein and high in fiber to satisfy longer.
other thigns I eat are potato soup, eggwhite sandwiches, veggie/hummus wraps, sweet potatoes, fruit/protein smoothies.
i don't cook much. I like having cooked brown rice on hand.

oh, thanks ladies! Yes, ther is soy bacon, and it is really high in protein and low in fat. I like to cook supper, but for lunches and on the days I wirk, I love these quick, easy meal ideaas.
