Just walk around your house in them for a while. Practice squatting down or bending over in them, as well as twirling around and walking at different paces. Practice going up and down stairs, etc. There's no easy way to get used to them, other than just wearing them a lot and practicing.
Take the road less traveled- just make sure you have a map.
I am 5'9ish and I NEVER wear heals and I did fine.... take it SLLLLOOOOWWW... I started with 5" and now I have 6"
I just wear them around the house a bit and i bend foward and touch my toes... basically practice my balance in them.
I've been doing "Shoe camp" (Instead of Boot Camp... Lol!) I wear them around the house as much as possible... I look great standing outside in jammies and 6" heels...

There's a fine line between genius and insanity!
Yeah ive some big shoes but not had confidence to wear them dancing yet. Some of the strippers that have gone on stage before me have used oil or soapy water i'm worried of slipping up in them on it!
Are you required to wear platforms at your club? I wear regular 5" pumps or sandals a lot of the time. I've found that many customers at my club avtually prefer those and consider them more classy than platforms.
Tefnut, is that you in your avatar? I love your face and hair.
She just told me I had to wear heels, it;s just all my regular shoes are only 4" high
my best guess,Originally Posted by Marniem
is you where them while
you do all your daily tasks until then.
that what by the time
you go to work its like you never made the change
from one to the other and you can walk naturally in them,
well as much as is possible in platform heals haha

Ernesto, are you an aspiring poet? That hexameter still needs some work, though![]()

Ok you are a guy trying to give advice about how to get used to stripper heels? I think she wanted personal experiences and advice from actual dancers who have had to get used to the tall shoes. And we already said to just wear them around the house.Originally Posted by xxernestoxx

"One night stand"
You looked beautiful standing in the doorway
Just standing there in your black dress
Your long black hair and brilliant brown eyes
The mascara running down your cheek, flowing like a river
The black eye liner and all the make up didn’t hide you from me
I saw you from across the room; we locked eyes and its all history
No one cared for you like I did.
We said it would all be great one day
You could be my salvation, my beauty queen
I would be your number one downfall, your only king
Have faith in me my love, i wont fail you
I want to save you like you saved me
Guide me through ill take you with me
You will never be afraid again, never in pain
Not shackled to the darkness
Take my hand we'll run away to a new place.
Settle down figure it out and always have each other
This should have been a one night stand, but is much more
The one night of passion stole my heart and saved my life
Now ill save you like you saved me, my love.

i hope no one complains about this being off topic or something haha

I don't know your club, but if you have small feet, like a size 5 or 6, 4" may be good enough while you're starting out. It's certainly preferable to making a fool out of yourself in platforms due to lack of practice.Originally Posted by Marniem
While wearing your heels around the house, take note of floor textures. I find it very difficult to walk over the thick pile carpet at home, but luckily the carpet at work is flat and sooooo much easier. Be sure to spend some time over smooth, hard surfaces to prepare for the stage. Walk over the kitchen tile, practice some moves. Note if you feel slippery, you may need to buy some non-slip stick-ons and you're better off discovering this at home than on the stage. (Like I did as a noob!!!)

For me a pair of platform stripper heels are easier to walkin than stilhetto pumps. And I totally agree with the newbie thing ^ with the non slip grips.Especially if your club has stairs like mine does.
It was easier for me to start off in the pumps with a "squared off" heal vs. the ones that come down to a point. Much more ankle control IMO.

i fell SO many times the first time i tried to talk in platform heels.. i wore them my first day and my first day only and then went out and bought the same clear heels with no platform. i wear them now though and the second time i tried i had no problems.
indeed that is me not too sure on the angle of the photo myself makes me look like i got abig forehead lol! but its the latest one of me i have, actually thats a lie i;ve done a shoot since then hmm.... may change it later dunno :-POriginally Posted by susan22
Try dancing around the house some, instead of just walking. It's totally different on the ankles and if they aren't strong enough you are in trouble.
Also, hold on to the pole a lot it will help and you can keep your moves sexy and slow. If there is a wall or mirror nearby you can always put your hands against that and do a bump and grind up and down to the floor. (Don't know if I described that well!) Oh, and do a lot of floor work. These should help if you find that your ankles aren't strenghtening up in time. And for God's sake be careful near the edge of the stage, and don't try to emulate any of the dancers' that may have a faster dance style, slow and sexy will keep you on your feet.
Good Luck!![]()

I definatly agree with wearing them alot. I got my 1st pair 2 months back and wore them every morning why'll i got ready for the day and after work at night. Now i can walk, bend, and move much easier (maybe a slip here and there). It's funny, I rather wear them then regular shoes.Practice makes perfect!
I agree about the sqaured off heel. Once you get used to them it's easier to switch to stillettos. Walking in heels is a funny thing. After dancing for years I coudl play tag in heels- but you take a few years off and you are wobbly again.

Also- get some shos with ankle STRAps. I dunno how your stage/floor is, but ours is badly in need of some remodeling, and there are some spots in the floor near the dressing room that I (and almost every other dancer, regardless of veteran status) have invariably tripped over. My logic- my heel may move, my leg may bend, but the shoe won't fly off the stage (yes i've seen it happen) at least with straps the suckers are attached.
practice makes Almost Perfect. i've always loved heels, it wasn't a big deal to go from a wear-anywhere 4.5 inch heel to a 7inch, my first real stripper heels. now my most frequent pair are red 8.5's! i love them....
remember- the purpose of "stripper" heels is not to look like a two-bit whore, but to elongate the legs and flatten the stomach. (and YES, it works.) therefore, the shorter you are, the more strongly i suggest investing in the practice of taller heels. i'm barely 5'3, but all i get is 'petite,' meaning small and toned, NEVER "short." it's a nice illusion.
good luck!
