This happens all the time, but in the past week or so it has been almost unbearable. I generally pay cash for my purchases, or use my bank debit card. I have credit cards, but I very rarely use them. I went to several different stores this week (Sears, Kohls, Best Buy, Target, Macy's) and I was nearly assaulted for using cash.
Retail Whore-"Can I put this on your _____ card today?"
Me-"No, I'll be paying cash."
RW-"But, if you use your _____ card today, you'll save 5 dollars off your next purchase!"
Me-"No, thanks...I'll be paying cash"
RW-"Well, do you have our rewards card?"
Me-"No, and I dont want one, thanks. Please just ring this up"
RW-"Well with your purchase today you receive a free subscription to Entertainment Weekly, Can I sign you up?
Me-"No. Really. Just take my money and let me be on my merry way."
RW-"Can I get your phone number/zipcode?"
Me-"NO. TAKE MY MONEY AND SHUT UP. "
It goes on and on. The woman at Sears was almost hostile about it. Now, I understand these people are simply doing what they are told to do by their company....BUT JUMPING JESUS ON A POGO STICK WTF PEOPLE!?! I am giving your company money. STFU. Take my money and be happy about it. I went to Best Buy again yesterday for something and when I got to the register I cut the woman off. "I just want to buy this. I dont have a card, nor do I want magazines or anything else except for you to take my money and let me leave with my purchase, mmkay?" It's totally out of control. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it is seriously making me mental. I'm just gonna buy everything online and avoid human interaction altogether.![]()
