    Default Tokyo in January 07.

For those of you who have danced in Japan, do you think its wise to try it out for the first time in January(my winter 4wk break)? I wouldnt sign with any companies, Id try to just wing it on my own and work a few times at a hostess club perhaps. Advice is mucho appreciated, esp in terms of setting it all up on your own and about this time of year? Also, I am looking for "wingmen", travel buddies, if anyone is down. This is really just an excuse to travel to Japan, and if anyone else has been wanting to aswell, this is a good op to share expenses(hotel, cabs?) with me. I can honestly say I would have fun with most anyone, as long as your honest(not trying to gyp me) and laidback, which I am. yay, thanks!

    Hi,
Do you mean going out there on a tourist visa and finding a job in aclub?

well, it can be done, and I did it for over a year, but it is very risky. Immigration was really cracking down during the year I was there, 2005. When I left many of the clubs, hostess clubs and strip clubs had been raided and so would no longer take girls without the proper visa (entertainment or spouse).

Was that what you meant? Or do you have a visa?

However, by all means go to Japan, it is a wonderful country., though Tokyo is damn cold in January.

    Good luck x

just make sure you have a visa, as no club accepts dancers or hostesses now without one...unless you want to risk a holiday in immigration prision!!

try or for more info on going thru an agent ( a much safer way to go!)

It used to be routine to see gaijin hostesses out on the sidewalks touting for their clubs (which typically specialized in gaijin hostesses) in Roppongi and other mizu shobai areas, even small ones like Yushima. However, I don't recall seeing any in the last couple of years; I wasn't really looking and might have just missed them, but I wonder if a lot of those places were chased out of business by the immigration crack-downs.

Wwander, did you see a dancer Niki in Tantra? she's from Israel, tanned skin, curly hair, exotic face.

things have changed a lot... and january was never a good month for $$$, in fact i would say it was the most dead of all. i would not do it without the proper paperwork. seriously.

however, tokyo itself rocks some serious ass. of course i gave myself japan-lust again last night by watching 'Tokyo Drift'... gah.

If she was there in early October I almost certainly **saw** her (i.e., on stage), but I didn't meet or talk to any dancer Israeli dancer or any dancer using that name. I spent most of my time with (and yen on) two Russian and one Rumanian dancer (not all at the same time, of course, though I did get some "double" VIPs from the Russians).

I'm not sure why you ask exactly, but if you are trying to get in touch with her or something, please PM me. I might be able to help.

Is the movie any good? I started to see it just because it is about Tokyo, but the trailers made it look like it was really mostly about cars and racing and might not actually show anything resembling the actual Tokyo.

If you haven't seen LOST IN TRANSLATION, I definitely recommend it, although it is a good way to bring on a really intense rush of Japan-lust, imo.

haha i got tokyo drift out last night. they tried to make it a bit about the yakuza too. there were alot of shots of shibuya, in fact i reckon most of it was shot in shib, the mori towers were in one of the landscape shots near the begining.

it was definalty more about the cars then tokyo tho!

OK, thanks...that's good enough for me. I don't having anything against a racing movie but probably wouldn't go out of my way to see it on that basis, but as long as it evokes some of the "feel" of Tokyo...one of the many feels of Tokyo, I should say...that is good enough for me.

Everytime I spend an evening in Shibuya, I promise myself to go back more often. All they need is a good SC or two, and I'd take it over Roppongi any day...er, night.

    Look who's talking!!

But you are right of course, and I don't even know why the place has its hooks in me so deep, but it sure as hell does. As I have probably said here before, there's no place in the world like it that I have found (and I have seen quite a good chunk of the globe).

cant wait to catch up with you some stage!!
The pleasure will surely be mine...and I hope it won't be too far in the future.
