I didn't like it either. I felt that they really tried too hard in this one to throw in a scare tactic every 10 seconds of the movie. What I loved about the first one is that they barely show the ghost at all, and the depiction of the little boy is almost human like (he doesn't look pale white). The erieness of the movie was what freaked me out in the first film, but they just couldn't recapture it in the second. There were parts where I jumped out of my skin, but I really didn't lose sleep at night over this movie.

that's exactly what i said. it was like the ring/the ring 2. it's far creepier when you only see the ghost for a split second. i didn't like how the ghosts in the grudge 2 were right in your face the whoooole time. definitely tried too hard for the cheap thrills.

the only part in the grudge 2 that actually made me jump, was when you saw the ghost of the bitchy blonde girl and she made that awful noise. that really creeped me out.

the ending really left me sitting there going "uh... what?" and it wasn't til i came online and read some info bout it that i actually had any idea what had actually happened. i didn't even realise that half of it was set in chicago.

See that part actually made me laugh because my date said something incredibly stupid at the time, while I was curled up with him. The hospital scene with the lights going out freaked me out the most, as she would come down the hall the lights would burst and you would just get a glimpse of her coming closer and closer.

Also... I thought Gellar (girl in the hospital in the beginning) died in the first film? They showed the ghost coming after her at the very end of that movie, and no one in the movie could apparently get away if she was that close to someone. What the hell? So many holes, and its just annoying me to think about it right now.

Time to head to class... someone else had to see this movie besides us! I'm really curious to see what they think.

My boyfriend and I both thought this movie was horrible. It jumped around and it didn't really have a strong plot. And after a while you just get used to seeingthat grudge ghost because like you girls said it's everywhere.

Um... just wanted to clear up... when you mentioned Ring and Ring 2 Darcy I am assuming you meant the American versions? As I've seen Ring 0, Ring 1 and Ring 2 ... the original japanese versions and quite honestly prefer them. I saw Ring 1 (the american version) ... and was very disappointed.

It is like Godzilla in New York (the american godzilla movie) and all the original japanese Godzilla movies. I prefer my man in suit Godzilla movies anyday

So I am guessing my gut instinct was correct. I won't waste $$ seeing this movie.

i didn't really like the japanese "ring" series. subtitles annoy me and i don't like the japanese language much, i find it a little harsh to listen to. i thought the american "ring" was awesome, but the sequel was a bit lame. except that part where she climbs up out of the well, that was fucking freaky.

okay so this may be wrong, but this is my interpretation of it.

aubrey, karen's sister, arrives in japan immediately after the events of the first film. she does her thing, goes to the house, blah blah, gets haunted, and is eventually killed by the angry husband in exactly the same manner that kayako was killed, which for some reason turns aubrey into a ghost too. (you have to wonder though, if being killed by the husband makes you a ghost, why was the detective who was drowned in the bath in the first film not seen as a ghost? and why were vanessa and miyuki, the school girls, also seen as ghosts, but no other victims were?)

the story with the school girls happens two years after the event, and when they go to the house it is aubrey's ghost they see (i think?). when allison says "i want to go home" right before she sees the other girls as ghosts, she actually goes back to an apartment block in chicago to be with her family, and takes the grudge with her.

as far as i can tell, the story line with aubrey (the sister) and the one with the house in chicago are completely unrelated aparty from the fact that aubrey is now a ghost too?

basically the whole thing makes no sense. in theory, the idea was probably good, but it was executed so poorly with so many holes and so much missing information and so many irrelevant events and characters, that the whole thing was just a mess.

I am not a big fan of the Japanese language however thanks to alot of SBS viewing I am pretty good with being able to enjoy a movie with subtitles now. It's amazing. I read faster/better when watching a subtitled movie than I do a book. lol.

Well, it looks like I may give this one a miss or just wait til it comes out on DVD (by the sounds of it .. that won't be a long wait lol).
