    Angry head lice

I am working at one club right now. Been dancing on and off for awhile. Heard some of the girls talking about having lice.(They were getting it from their kids from school.) This was awhile ago, maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Well now I have it!!!!! Ewwww. I just cut 4 inches off my hair b/c it was dead anyway and didn't want to have to put all that crap you have to use through that much hair . I'm going to have to re-do that in 10 days. Washed everything.
Except now I am trying to figure out how this happened. Was it the lap dance couch? The cloth bar chairs? Did I hug somone? I can't think of the last time someone borrowed my brush. I try no to lend it out.
Point is all the time I have danced nothing and now this. I did read the other threads on this, but thought I woulod put it out there again. You don't want to go through this.I seriously gave thought to hacking all my hair off.( and I love my hair long)

OOh Fuck. That sounds bad. I'm sure you know how often they clean the furniture in SCs. So if some chicks brought the lice ITC, then they have probably jumped all over the common areas.

If it were me, I would change clubs. Nothing creepier than constantly worrying about bugs crawling on your head.

Well, you wouldn't have to have done anything. Lice can jump, something like, 3 feet. Standing next to someone who has lice is enough to get it. Of course, if you let someone use your brush...if someone who has lice gave a close dance to a customer just before you did...

I would also tell management. Can you imagine the fallout if the customers found out that they got their head lice from the club??

You don't have to put the yucky chemicals on your hair. You can just slather a bunch of olive oil on and leave it for a while (heat it up and make it a hot oil treatment :-)) then use the lice comb. Repeat every few days for a couple weeks. Your hair will get shiny and healthier.

Lice can jump? Are you sure? I thought they could only crawl?

Unless they treat the club it sounds like you may get it again. Gross.

    eta:

"Head lice are mainly acquired by direct head-to-head contact with an infested person's hair, but may infrequently be transferred with shared combs, hats and other hair accessories. They may also remain on bedding or upholstered furniture for a brief period....Neither able to fly nor jump, lice are also unlikely to wander far from their preferred habitat."

If nobody's using your brush you probably got it from the couch dance area. Spray it with some Rid spray maybe?

Yeah, lice can jump. I would definitely try to get something done in the club about it because they can live on for[ever]. Yuck. Sorry you had to go through all this, it must suck.

My mother always said that lice go for clean hair thing when I used to catch them in grade school. I have really thick hair & they were horrible to get out. I wouldn't wish them on anybody.

Having head lice was a bitch. It took me ages to be totally rid of it so I can empathise.

I have 4 kids and they have had lice 3 times now from school. I would suggest to your manager that they spring for the spray for the common areas at work. Also, no one has mentioned it, but something that really worked for us after the last debacle was this:

Thanks for the support I totally need it. I am really thinking I lent someone my brush-but can't exactly remember.
But yeah- what about the custies? I remember 1 that I danced with on sat and I usually drape my hair over their face as part of my ld. Ewww. He was really drunk, but do I say something and risk him being drunk and repeating it?Like really loud in the club?Crap ,I think not. But I would feel bad if I passed that around. It sucks major butthole. I keep brushing my hair with the lice combs. Will be for weeks now. But I found a few more this a.m.AAAARRRggGGhh.

I've never had lice, but my niece and nephew did, passing it to my sister in law, who had this fabulous long hair. She didn't want to do the chemicles, so she bought a comb that shocks them and kills them on contact when combing hair. SHe said nothing else completely got them out of her kids hair like that, and that was how she finally got rid of them. If I remember right it killed the eggs also.
Lice creeps me out. ick. Id try the zappy comb, not sure what it's called, but she got hers at cvs.
    Good luck

Wow...I was always told they could jump. Well, I know they can cuz I caught one when I was younger and it jumped off my nail. *eewwwwww* It still gives me the creeps to this day.

Saturating the hair with Olive Oil sounds good...but you still have to be careful...its not going to rinse full away so after a while your hair is going to look greasy.

AHHHH! Ew! Gross! I had lice in jr high! I'm all itchy just thinking about it. I sprayed what I could, washed what I could, and tied the rest up in plastic bags for a... month? to kill those fuckers. I had to wash with that stuff a couple times but what really worked was the hours I spent literally going through EVERY hair to make sure I got all the eggs. Rubbing alcohol helped with the itching a lot! I'm curious as to how she had four inches cut off after having lice? Most haircut places wouldn't touch you with a ten foot pole if you've got dem bugs.

    PS: EW EW EW!

My mother is a hair dresser and we have had the same problem in the past. RID quit working for us and we learned that if you buy a cheap perm and of course follow the directions to it (you don't have to use rollers if you don't want to) and that gets rid of them always, but you must always spray everything in your house the walls and pictures everything, two or three days later get a RID kit and use that or another perm and spray everything once again.
The first time were getting rid of the lice, the second time was making sure the eggs were dead. Trust me this really works, might smell bad but works.
