    Default New Phoenix Laws

    Hello All,

I am planning on making some extra money by dancing again for a little while here in Phoenix. I have not danced in Phoenix for 10 years and I am hearing about all these new laws. I hear that you cannot accept tips in your G-string anymore which is pretty ridiculous, I thought g-string tipping was just strip club tradition! Are they actually enforcing this? How are the girls doing as far as stage tips since you can only accept tips in your hand now? Any tips on how you can tell if the club is being raided? Is it just air dances now? Most of the time that I danced it was in the Detroit area where contact lapdances are the usual so I will have no idea what to do if this is the case. Any advice on how to not get ticketed and still make money would be appreciated.

It is NOT air dancing. There is contact. Since the bars are open until 2 now, we have to have our tops on from 1-2. Not much is different in the clubs. Just go with the flow. Of course you have to have your license to work now.

^^Yeah. There are "raids" every now and then - vice will come in undercover, get a dance, give the girl a ticket, and leave. No one gets arrested and I've never seen more than 2 girls get ticketed at once. Usually just one.

But there is actually more contact now, since the new laws took effect and I haven't seen anyone strictly take tips in the hand.

Of all the girls working any given club during a "raid" the chances of YOU being the one who gets ticketed are relatively slim.

There is a HUGE discrepency between what is "the law" and what is commonly practiced. Everyone still takes tips in their gstring, and everyone risks getting a minimum fine of $250 for doing it.

Mgmt is not legally responsible for the behavior of entertainers, so they don't work too hard to enforce "the law."

Overall, it's very different than it was 10 years ago (or 4 years ago when I moved here) for that matter. Money is still good, but you have to be willing to put up with a lot more BS from custies and a lot less support from mgmt.

^^I agree. I danced in Phoenix in August and tipping in g-strings and garters was pretty standard. I don't remember any laws about tips needing to be accepted by hand to hand only.

There is definately contact during the dances. The guys were pretty respectful about my personal rule of "hands off". I still sold plenty of dances. And you have to watch the clock a bit at the end of the night to make sure you are dressed after 1am.

What they said. No nips after 1am. Must have a top of some kind on to keep the nips covered - no see-thru.

What is the point of that anyways? There must be some reasoning?

^^It's just a leftover from the old 1am closing laws. Apparently when they changed the bar laws to stay open until 2:30 they didn't change the old 1am topless dancing law, so we can't be topless after 1am still. I think that only applies to topless clubs (serving booze), but not sure.

I wish the Phoenix clubs would get their shit together and fight some of these dumbass laws like they did in Snottsdale. I guess the threat of an all-out lapdance ban is a much better motivator though

At Christie's we do topless dances after 1 am. I don't know how they get around that "tops on after 1" rule, but apparently the liquid latex is okay.

Of course, we are "supposed" to have liquid latex for the last hour and 15 minutes from 1-2:15, but I haven't seen anyone wear it since all this licensing B.S. and later last call started in 2004.

What she said. I can't think of one person at our club that follows this "rule".

^^^ again the real problem with anti-dance club ordinances like this one is that it breeds 'contempt for the law' with virtually every dancer in virtually every club routinely violating the ordinance on a nightly basis. While enforcement may have been extremely lax so far, this is no guarantee that enforcement policies couldn't change in a big hurry if a new city council, DA or police chief comes into office.

Ultimately, such ordinances attempt to 'criminalize' exotic dancing in the eyes of the general public. Even if the maximum consequence of being 'ticketed' for violating the ordinance is a $250 fine, it still winds up on the public record somewhere that girl X was guilty of breaking law Y in regard to a 'sexually oriented business'. This is even more likely to become a conspicuous public record in a city that requires dancer's licensing.

Also, the same 'contempt for the law' also typically encourages customer expectations that dancers should start breaking other laws as well.

from the 'Raids in Phoenix' thread ...

As with seemingly all such ordinances, if a girl can theoretically wind up being charged with prostitution or lewd conduct for putting her boobs in a customer's face during a private dance, and if giving customers BJ's and HJ's involves exactly the same charge and exactly the same black mark on their record, some girls are going to quickly figure out that they have essentially nothing additional to lose and potentially a great deal to gain by offering (and getting paid for) HJ's and BJ's !

Depends on if you are working topless or nude. At Le Girls we only have to have our bottoms on after 1am. We can walk around topless till close if we please. And as far as the contact rule goes. We can have contact, but the bouncers will scold you if you are grinding on their dick or if you rub your boobs all over them, but yes you can touch them, they aren't air dances. Oh and no knees in the crotch, not physically touching their crotch anyway.

Even though 'club rules' and bouncers are OK with these things, and even though these things are done routinely by every dancer in the club on a nightly basis, I'll bet you that at least some of these things are technically grounds for a prostitution or lewd conduct bust if the local cops / DA chose to do so.

^^Yes they are. ANY contact while dancing, if done to or witnessed by vice, can get you ticketed. Even something as stupid as accepting a tip in your garter can get you a $250 fine.
