welcome to election year politics ... combined with some element of 'women's rights' i.e. politicians and local voters who feel that dancers as women should be protected from sexual exploitation by clubowners and customers (even if this means their earnings potential will be cut in half or their club will go bankrupt putting them out of a job altogether !).

^^^ What she said.
In a recent debate between candidates for Texas Governor, one candidate proposed that they tax the income of dancers so extremely that only good could come of it - either schools would benefit from the "scum of society" or women would stop getting into the profession for "the money". The only woman candidate responded "That is a horrible exploitation of women! I can't beleive you would suggest that! Those poor dears! We ought to just forbid liquor liscenses to adult nightclubs of any kind, that way they all have to shut down." Yeah.....

Never thought that voters should decide issues like this when the majority of them don't even patronize the clubs and or impacted negatively by them, but the Seattle voters have this issue correct IMHO.

Meh, and I was considering moving back to Seattle eventually....Maybe it'll end up working like the 3-foot rule here in Houston (crosses fingers...)

Yay for Seattle! I just read the actual results of the vote-I had read the original post when I made my first comment. Woohoo!! It looks like I may be moving back to Seattle in a few years afterall......Originally Posted by laplover69

Similar results to the Scottsdale AZ vote. This goes to show that when clubowners have proper funds to launch advertising and properly fight a bill, that they can win.
It also shows that more and more "average" citizens aren't concerned about strip clubs and adult businesses, and feel politicians should be focused on more important issues.
