Texas fan I take it?
Here is the page you really ought to looking at:
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/polls?...ate=2006-10-29
Notice the AP Top 25 poll isn't on that page. That's because starting last year, the AP won't allow the BCS to incorporate it into its formula anymore. That gives the computer polls more weight.

Really, as bewildering as the BCS results are, we have to remember why it was instituted in the first place. To mitigate the impact of regional prejudice in the decision making, and to make sure that the national champion is decided on the field.
Of course, the controversy now has shifted from deciding the champion on the field, to deciding who should play for the championship on the field.
Personally, I think a simple solution to this (albeit not a perfect one) would be to use two of the bowl games as semifinals, and have the winners play a championship game a couple of weeks later. Some have suggested using four bowl games as quarterfinals and having a football Final Four after that.
Former SCJ now in rehab.

you're right that some kind of a mini playoff should be utlilized b/c most years it isn't clearly obvious on face value who the best two teams are. There are so many teams in the top 6 that are so overated it's ridiculous. And Notre Dame cries every year that they aren't just handed the title just for being Notre Dame.
Ugh!

the lack of playoffs in ncaa football is one of those indicators to me that the human race isn't gonna make it. who could be against a playoff system?
