    Default Back of heel pain

The backs of my heels hurt so bad, like my achiles tendon. It doesn't go away for a long time. My shoes are 8 inchers so the arch isn't even high on them at all. Is this just something I will get used to eventually or is there something I can do to make it go away? Who else has this problem?

Wearing high heels a lot can lead to shortening of the achilles tendon. Stretches and wearing flats when not working can prevent it becoming an extreme problem.

Here are two things that come to mind, depending where exactly the pain is:

Please let me know if any of this is helpful.

I've got this problem of shortened achilles tendons. I developed it without really noticing for a long time as I was wearing 5 inch heels every day and high-heeled mules even at home. It doesn't really cause me any pain though as long as I stay in heels. Wearing flats or actually anything below a 4 inch heel does cause significant pain and cramping in the calves after a while though.

Go see a podiatrist to find out what exactly is wrong in your case. Shortened achilles tendons can be fixed with physical therapy in many cases. However, you may have to forgo heels alltogether (not an option for me).

THank you girls. I think that I'm just going to get some inserts for my shoes that are real good for my feet and start stretching out that tendon a lot to prevent it from shortening and causing problems. I think everything will be ok seeing as how it just barely started hurting.
