    Default Breathing..

I am almost sure I have asthma, but I dont know now...I've noticed that while it doesn't happen ONLY when I'm about to go to sleep, it ALWAYS consistently happens when I'm about to go to sleep, I find it impossible to breathe. I have to sit up and strain all of my muscles to get one breath halfway down. My face and hands get all hot and I'll yawn like 20 times and it gets some air in. I know its not DoctorWeb, but do these symptoms sound like anything you've heard of? It happens alot less severely but almost always consistently after I eat, too...

Any ideas? This didnt always used to happen. *struggles for breath*

hmm, Pooka i have a suggestion, and please don't be offended, this just sounds very similar to some of my experiences... could it be anxiety?

If there's something weighing on your mind, the subconscious is often very active around night/sleep time, and if you're trying to lose weight (i don't know see why, but that's not my business) then that might explain the hard time breathing around mealtimes if you're getting anxious about food.... again, just a guess, but the same thing has definitely happened to me, and anxiety was the culprit. good luck!

I have had asthma symptoms on and off since I was young. I find that exercise, air quality (dry dusty inside air or smoggy outside air), temperature and laying down like you said can all affect my breathing. Sometimes if I lay in bed and watch TV or something I get really wheezy and start coughing like crazy.

I have a ventolin inhaler from my doctor to use when I get these "attacks", but if it happens regularly more than 3 or 4 times a week you should go to the doctor and maybe get a daily inhaler.
