    Default Birthday Quandary...

I've never done a poll here before... egads I was a poll virgin till now!
My birthday is 12/26.... what a craptastic time of year for a birthday.

No one is ever around, or if they ARE still in town they're busy, or broke... so celebrationizing is never really an option. I could celebrate before my birthday, but everyone tends to be poor before Christmas.... and if I celebrate after, I have New Years to contend with... so what sounds like the best idea?

I say celebrate on New Years because everyone is in party mode and all the stress and shit of Christamas and whatever else people are celebrating is over, so you can all let your hair down and have a rage!

Celebrating before is too risky as so many people will be too broke to come out or scared of spending money incase they need it later in the month. On the day is bad because people are still tied up doing Xmas stuff and even if people say they can come come, some may have to cancel last minute due to unexpected family commitments which often happen over Xmas. After the 26th is bad because everyone want to have a big night on New Years.
That really must suck in some ways!!! I hope you have a ball whatever you do! (-:

When I was younger I had to contend with Halloween celebrations. Yes it isn't widely celebrated here in Australia however it is celebrated so I would have a mixed "happy halloween / vanessa's birthday" celebration ......or two separate celebrations... have my birthday celebration before my actual birthday then a halloween celebration...... or just celebrate it whenever in my "birthday week".

I voted NYE celebration / Paige Birthday Party as it really is the best time to get people to come out and celebrate. Christmas is over and people are in party mode again.

The day after is Boxing Day here in Australia (and a public holiday if it falls on a weekday) however most people are way too busy with post-Chrissy crap (returning gifts, etc) so it won't be a good time before or even the day of the 26th... so I vote NYE.

26th is good, because everyone still feels like partying, drinking and generally not working, but there's nothing really to do (except shopping). So you have a party, and everyone has an excuse to keep drinking!

Heheh, I stopped acknowledging birthdays a while ago... Not like a bitter old person does and what not, but in general because they go by before I realize that it's my birthday too not just Christmas. I was born a day before Paige...

It's weird, normally, seriously, I don't even register it until the end of the day when my friends/family leave and I get "And Happy Birthday dude"

But seriously, I'm not bitter. It's all good times.

I mean, how do you compete with Jesus?!

A New Year's Party would rock!

Mast.. You could always do what HoFace did. His Son was born on Xmas too. He "changed" the birthday to June, and they've celebrated it in June ever since he was a year old. LOL

Why not do both? Invite out people on your birthday that you know can come, and celebrate again on New Years Eve. If people are up for it, and why wouldn't they be, it can be even more fun.

The fact that your birthday and Christmas coincide one day apart has nothing to do with one another. If all your friends/family are broke because of the holidays, that's their issue. Your day is special and is unrelated to any other holidays that may surround it. Just let everyone know far in advance that you would like to plan something and have them budget accordingly.

You don't. He'd kick the crap outta you if you tried.

I think the New Year's party would be great, too!

My closest friend's bday is xmas day and she gets screwed over all the time on her day. Everyone forgets to call her and barely anyone can celebrate that day, as most of our friends' families are catholic. So we would usually celebrate on new years. Now that she's moved to AZ, I try to go out there every year for new years so we can do the Tempe Block Party thing. It's a HUGE celebration and tons of fun.
So I say you make new years one big giant celebration.

MAST! You share Jesus' birthday? I knew you were a special kind of Capricorn. I share mine with Charlotte Bronte, Queen Elizabeth the current, Iggy Pop, and Robert Smith (yes, of the Cure). Oh, and Tony Danza.

Now you're getting extra special cookies!

Back on track: Paige, I say New Year's too. That way everyone has had a bit of time to recuperate from Xmas . . . AND can take advantage of lots of SALES to get you tons of birthday loot! Woohoo!
