This week has been absolute hell.
I just got accepted at a new club, and on my first day to work, my tire flew off of my car while on the freeway (Yes, it actually flew the fuck off --tire, hubcap, rim, lugnuts and all). Fortunately, no one got hurt and I had insurance to pay for the towing. The problem now is that I was put on the schedule to work tonight (the accident happened on Tuesday --last Tuesday). I don't have my car back, although I may be able to borrow a friend's. However, I'm coming down with a cold, and to be honest, I feel very uncomfortable driving my friend's car to work (it's a great car, but I commute a long distance and part of that trek is over one of the most dangerous mountain highways in California --I have to cross the coastal range into the valley). I'm assuming that managers are a bit lenient, since you can't pick up a new girl as fast as Safeway can call some highschool kid out of their application files and just lay you off. I have also known some strippers with severe alcohol and partying problems, who I'm sure couldn't have been too competant. I'm going to have to call my boss/manager today and let him know what's going on. I'm very nervous though because it is an elite club and I'll just die inside if I get fired or layed off because of my stupid car incident. Anyone have any advice, past experiences or info about stripping and leniency, or lack thereof, on competance? Also, my owner/manager/boss is a first generation American Croation. The Croation people work very hard and don't admire slacking (Croatia is a very poor, poor Slavic country that never recovered from the fall of the Soviet Union); their people have a strong work ethic and take business very seriously. I feel that perhaps culturally, he might expect a nearly perfect track record with business practices. Argghhh... I'm so worried!
