    Good ol' Constantanople!

SHOPPING IS GREAT!!!!! I haven't been to Turkey since 99', but boy did I have a blast. My favorite place was Adana (sp?) the beach was great. Please get a tea set, they have some very beautiful ones over there, the rugs of course are pretty too.

Sorry I don't have any real "cultural" knowledge.(except make sure you see the Blue Mosque), lol/ I'm a shopaholic, so I always just know where to shop when I've been somewhere (Incerlick & Izmir had great shopping).

Dunno if you like Doner Khabobs but if you've never tried them, Turkey is the place to do so!

Please report back after your trip, and have a fantastic time!!

I was there in July (alone!). I loved it!

The shopping was good, but after awhile it gets repetitive. It's all rugs, spices and jewelry.

Just keep in mind that different touristy things are closed on different days. Like I was there for two days and I think the Hagia Sofia was closed on Monday and Blue Mosque on Tuesdays. So you have to plan around that or you'll miss stuff.

And don't think you're going in anywhere wearing a tanktop or shorts. I brought a jacket with me to go in certain places and was told to button it all the way to the top. Absolutely no cleavage.

oh, and avoid the turkish bath unelss you bring antibiotics with you.

Wow...what an amazing city. Hands down the best place i've seen so far!
We had hardly any time and didn't get to see everything. Just the Hagia Sofia, the Basillica Cistern, the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Market. We spent some time hanging out on the pier at the bosphorus too. We will definitely be revisiting asap so we'll still have plenty of stuff to see. It was just such a magical time, filled with so many chance encounters, and we met some cool people with some amazing stories. I cannot say enough about this place...just WOW. It did help to be traveling with my husband though

We're off to Barcelona tommorow, followed my Marrakech and then Lisbon. Anyone have any experience with these cities they wish to share? Pleeease?

I would LOVE to check out Istanbul. As for Barcelona, only spent one night there. La Rambla is the big shopping area, and you must at least check out Sagrada Familia Cathedral. That was positively amazing! If you haven't had Sangria, get some That stuff kept my friends and I giggling like schoolgirls for days
