I wanted to start sewing my own "stripper" clothes and I was wondering if anyone knew about patterns for sexy dresses. I looked in the catalogs at the fabric stores and those dresses are a bit too conservative.... Any ideas?

Hi Lisanne, i was thinking exactly the same thing! I picked up a few basic bikini patterns yesterday, and had a look for skating/gymnastics etc. costumes on the internet. I also have a few dress patterns, they are a bit old fashioned but have nice details that i will pick out and ignore the rest of the pattern. I think i will just freestyle the rest.
What i am struggling with is the actual sewing of the fabric. I have a really shitty sewing machine and can't afford a hardcore one. I was thinking of hand sewing but have only worked with cotton before and not stretch material.
Kwik Sew patterns are pretty good

I use the costumes that I have and make patterns from them, then vary them up a bit. I haven't found anything pattern wise for stripper clothes.
I can tell you that a good sewing machine makes all the difference. Lycra and stretch knits are hard to sew, the better the machine the etter the results. It doesn't have to e an exspensive machine, just one that runs well. If you can't afford to get a new one why not tke the one you have in for service? Maye it just needs a tune-up.
Thank you all for the ideas![]()
Be careful with the stretch material, it can be slippery and hard to work with, also you have to make sure that you have your peices lined up perfectly at all times, otherwise you get bulges and bumps. Good luck with that, or, you could also find a seamstress where you live and see if they could help you out. Might be easy to at least go in and get some pointers/

a serger type machine is made for stretchy stuff it is what the pros use, other than that any machine with a zig-zag function. Go to a sewing store (non-quilting) and ask questions, Jo-Ann fabric and craft is usually pretty good
