    Default Y'all voting in Seattle?

We drove past the Deja Vu last night and on their marquee "Vote No on Referendum 1" was flashing - - a no vote would reject the city ordinance that would implement a 4-ft rule, ban direct tipping, and raise the lighting levels in strip clubs. It will be interesting to see what happens on Election Day here.

For your entertainment, a great article from today's Seattle Times comparing the situation in Seattle with that in Portland.

It's interesting that there is more hanky-panky in the WA clubs than the OR ones when they've got, technically, the stricter rules. I wish that had been discussed.

Apparently no one here voting in Seattle . . . . but the referendum was shot down anyway.

I didn't even realize today was election day. I've been spending all my time either getting ready for the move, working on the website, or posting on SW

It got beat down like a bad child....lol Seattle is such a contradictory city-it is the most conservative liberal city I've ever seen!! Hell, I live in the bible-belt deep south and rules concerning stip clubs here are much more lax, and on smoking, for that matter. Houston did pass a smoking ban, but there is a clause that exempts places that encourage cigar smoking (hello-strip clubs!) I was acually shocked that voters voted against this one. I lived in Seattle for almost five years, and was considering moving back-but now that I'm dancing, Portland is looking like a much better option-hell, I'd move there for Powell's City of Books alone! Not to mention it is one cool/funky/artsy city (unlike this cultural armpit I'm currently stuck in)!

I voted, and voted no on this referendum. Another really interesting thing I read in the Seattle Times is that with this ref. being defeated, plus the moratorium on new clubs being ended as of last year, we may finally get some new clubs opening up in Seattle for the first time in AGES.

Should be interesting to see how city council handles the zoning, and, if the rumors about the owners of Talents West are true, what the local organized crime heads do as well.

When I decided to start dancing I was living in Seattle. I chose to start my career in Reno. NV because of the laws and attitudes in Seattle. That is an 800 mile move over city ordinances!! That is a hell of a trek.

Seattle can have screwed up roads, faulty housing codes and lax public policing; but when it comes to vice they can spend tons of $$$ Fu$%ing w/ the strip clubs. It makes you wonder where their priorities are at.

Virgoamm, hun, if you live in Houston, your local laws concerning strip clubs are MUCH more strict than here in Seattle, or in most parts of the US for that matter. And the heavy action that goes on in Houston clubs (higher than in most parts of the country), is a direct result of those strict-ass laws.

Laws like this don't make clubs more clean - it makes them more dirty.

I am glad it didn't pass. In part because of this, we are going out strip-clubbing with our neighbors tonight to give some girls some money in celebration

Susan - I don't have time to read the paper right now

I guess I really don't have much perspective because this is the only city I've ever danced in and don't have anything to compare it to. Maybe I need to get out more! I guess what I meant too (or was just thinking without actucally describing), is that we do have strict rules, but noone follows them, and as far as I know, it's been like this for quite some time. Plus, there are SO many clubs in this city, and honestly, it seems like the police couldn't be bothered with enforcing the restrictions we have on S.C.'s here (we even get police officers as PATRONS, believe it or not!). Maybe because Houston is such a high-crime city, they have higher priorites than pulling out a measuring tape to see if a dancer is too close to a customer.. OTOH, In a city like Seattle, which has only a handful of stripclubs, it would seem that those kind of restrictions could be more easily enforced, you know what I mean?

Unfortunately, very true....At least from what I've seen here.

Anyways, have fun clubbing-it's a good time to celebrate!!

It's been like that in Houston since 1997-8. According to alot of people, Houston strip clubs were NICE places before the laws fucked it all up.

We sure will have fun clubbing tonight though
