    stress and hair loss

Recently I have been under alot of stress, then about a month ago I noticed a huge increase in the hair i am losing everyday..its so bad that when i wash my hair I have to sit there and collect the hundreds that seem to be everywhere in the tub and on the towel. So heres the question, there is nothing I can do about the stress right now but is there a vitamin or something that will help? Do those walmart hair pills everyone is talking about work for this also? What about Rogaine?

Yes, the pills work. Try to stay calm, I know stress is hard. Also buy Biotin shampoo & pills. Eat gelatin too.

I don't know much about Rogain so I can't say.

maybe you're undernourished? ditto about the vitamin things.
in addition to that, make sure you're getting the right fatty acids...so eat your walnuts, have some corn oil...have almonds. easiest thing to do is buy flax seed oil at gnc, have a couple tablespoons a day...it has omega 3, 6 and 9's. it should help you with your hair

I don't know if you are a man or a woman, but if you are a female, have your thyroid checked, and get some tests done to make sure you don't have a thyroid disorder or pcos.

There might not be ways to avoid what's causing you stress, but there are ways of making it so these things are taking less of a toll on your body. Start eating more fruits and vegetables, and avoid red meats more than three times a week, but make sure you have some form of lean protien with every meal. Try and get at least 30 more min than your used to of sleep every night ( taking calcium before bed is a natural relaxant, and I'm always quick to fall asleep after I take it. Also, if you can't get enough excersize earlier in the day, break up 30 min of walking into 10 min incriments, and fast walk 3 times throughout the day. All this will help you rcortisol levels. Also, try and keep your blood sugar levels from spiking.... this means eat low ( but not no) carb foods. Eat healthy carbs.

And, yes, rogain does work, but it doesn't grow it all back.
My mother has pcos and lost most of her hair by the time she was 40, and then she started buying hair pieces. She's 57 now, and as I've grown up, I've gotten more interested in nutrition, and this is what I recomended to her ( especially the lean protien with every meal thing) and it really made a difference, but didn't grow it all back. She was about half way to normal looking hair thickness for a woman after all of that.

About a year and a half ago my mother discovered a generic version of rogain ( sh enever bought it before because she thought it was too expensive for something that might not work) and now after consistant use, her hair, though still thinner than average, looks normal and is now about 75 % normal looking, maybe even 80, but still thinner than most womans hair. Even though it still might be thinner than most, she was almost completely bald on the entire top of her head untill this, and now, unless you are really close to her, you can't even tell she has thin hair.
