My question is just that... can you love someone you have never truly met? Whether it me an online romance or a family member you have never had the change to meet... what do you think?

The wonderful thing about emotion is that they are up for interpretation.
Sometimes the last thing you need to know about someone is what they look like, however, as with any left out piece, it can make or break any relationship. Viewed action is a great truth bringer.
However, what matters is how YOU feel.
Me personally, I know any little thing can make or break a relationship, so seeing a person in action proves genuine intent.
People are not ruled by their memories.

Yes i believe you can fall in love with someone youve never met, i have seen it happen with a friend of mine.Originally Posted by MObabe

Online romance and long-lost family member are two different types of love.
I believe that you can love a family member that you've never met.
To love a person romantically that you haven't met in person? Not, not truly. Until you physically meet in person, you're only in love with an idea of what that person is.

Scarlett, that's what I was thinking.
Until you know someone, you love the idea of the person. Which can really be a problem. I think that's what happens with a lot of very quick to the altar relationships.
Exactly how I feel. I couldn't love someone I didn't know. I don't know how that could be possible. I mean, you could love the idea of who they are, or the idea of who you want them to be.. But, until you really know them, how can you love them?Originally Posted by scarlett_vancouver

If you can love someone youve never met then Kikin wasnt a stalker after all. Yea right.. no no you cant. I think scarlett put it best. People have faults and things that annoy others and manerisms etc etc that you may not like when you meet them in person.

Yes I agree with the ladies above.
I don't believe that you can be *IN* love with someone that you have never met... And there is a difference between loving someone and being IN love.

I think some people fancy themselves being in love simply because they love being in love. As far as long lost relatives, blood is funny stuff that ties people together in ways that most will not understand.
*however* being a truely romantic minded person, if a soul match is found, it really doesn't matter how you find them, because there are some people you love just because you always have and always will. Heh.
Yes, from personal experience. Very wierd situation that was!

Yes! I think many of you love me - love me long time.![]()

Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"

heh, no. take it from me and my experiences, you can't.

Yup. That's why I'm in Australia to begin with.

If you are incredibly lucky, reality can be more intense than fantasy. You meet in person and discover something you've never experienced before. When that happens, you close your eyes, hold on, and hope, beyond all measure of hope, that the sheer lunacy of your situation will save you from the doom of fantasy.

truly love?
no
i don't buy "love at first site" and i don't buy loving someone you've never met.

I do love buying love though, for 12.87 a hour.Originally Posted by Pretty_Penny

I think it is POSSIBLE (because anything is POSSIBLE), but pretty much... no. Everyone I'VE met offline was different than what I expected (Even you, TM... but in a good way). It's too easy to misinterpret words on a screen... I think you can fall in love with the IDEA of them.

I agree...you love what the person's persona online is. I've spoken with many people who were "in love" with someone online...until they met them.Originally Posted by scarlett_vancouver

Yes, I think it is possible, but I don't think it is possible for all people. Just like some people have musical talent and others don't, same with the ability to love someone sight unseen.
Gosh, there are millions of people on the planet that claim to love Jesus, but at last check, not a single one has met Jesus...yet.

I'm not saying its impossible to fall in love with someone who you met online. I just don't believe you can be in love with them until youve met. Same goes for jesus. They don't love jesus, they just love what they heard about the guy. And let me tell you, a 2000 year old game of telephone is sure to have some tweaks to the story.
