    Default Being Tall - Confidence

Ok so I'm 5'11 in my barefeet, lean, so I have that whole skinny-long-leg-model look, but I have a problem. Whenever I wear heels in public (not the club), I get self conscious. Heels usually start around 3.5 or 4 inches, for the cute ones, and that puts me over 6'2. I just feel like people are staring at me when I'm the tallest one in the room, even over most guys. Maybe it's not a bad stare, like oh she's really tall that's unique, but I still feel self conscious.

My question is for the tall girls who like heels. Do you ever feel self conscious, or do you just rock your long legs and are proud of them? I don't really know how to go about fixing this about myself.

I know what you mean, i have some asian girl friends that are between 5-5'6 and are at a nice height imo, once they wear heels it still looks good because their height gets bumped up anywhere from 5 feet to 5"8 ish or so. Your height at 5"11 is fine too, its that "model" stature . Dont trip about the heels and being taller than most people...even guys. Im 5 feet 8 and wouldnt think you look funny...id feel short . so just have a tall b/f lol...
P.S. Ive always felt that guys wanna be tall and girls wanna be "just right"...not too tall because they feel goofy. (i asked some of my girl friends). Just to say my opinion, i think your fine at 5'11...its not like your 6'6

Haha my BF is actually my height without heels, maybe an inch taller, so I'm taller than him with heels on but he doesn't really seem to give a shit.

See! I hear a lot of girls say they wish they could be my height, but then I can't wear heels without feeling like a freak. Boo that .

haha me to Rhia I'm 5'3 but I do love being cute and short.

There are so many women who wish to be taller. Tall women who ooze confidence are very sexy. As far as fixing it well that is impossible lol you just have to work on your confidence. Have you ever tried any modelling work? That can really help to boost confidence.

Yes I totally agree you have to get over what other people think. Standing out and being unique is a great thing!

Haha well I didn't mean like fix physically, but mentally, getting over the whole insecurity thing. And as far as modelling, I've done some yes, when I was younger, but the people you work with arn't the best for living a healthy lifestyle if you know what I mean.

I am 6-5. I've only been with two girls your height in my life and it was nice with both of them. I LOVED when they wore heels, we looked like the Amazon couple of tallness when they would do that. Keep wearing them.

Now of course, you must post a pic of yourself in heels.

Be proud. I wish I was that tall (I'm 5'4"). My sister's a bit taller than me & she's mentioned that her co-workers often play down their height by a few inches, which I think is lame. Think how lucky you are that you don't have to hop up & down to see over stuff.

I heard in My gov 2 class that supposedly the tallest people usually end up being more successfull on average. Something about how it makes people think you have controll and know what your doing even if you don't. Just something my teacher said. I thought it was interesting.

As for being 5'11, psh.... I've got three girlfriend that stand at 6', 6'2, & 6'3. And that's in bare feet. Only one is truly uncomfortable with her hight, but she's kind of awkward anyway. The other two love it and wear heels and skirts all the time. I feel like the odd one at 5'5 when I'm standing with the group of them.

Well I do suspect tallness commands some sort of respect from certain people.

you know what's sexy? taking what makes you different and accentuating it. Feeling self-conscious about it ruins everything. Not just for height, but everything!

I'm only 5'9" and I wear 6" heels with this, "yeah, I know I'm tall, and if you don't like it, I'll make you like it" walk.

god i hate being tall. im only 5'10 and i get pissed off that shoes dont fit, theres no cute shoes in a size 10, and if i wear heels i get that 'i look like a transvestit' feeling.

i only have 1 pair of shoes (lacoste sneakers) and a pair of jandles. boo for flats

I'm 6'1"...talk about being a freak? Not at all. Being tall is divine. Like Fawn said, studies have shown that tall people are percieved to be more intelligent and responsible, before they've even proven their merit. I frequently wear shoes of every description exceeding 4 inches (and not only at work) and sometimes I do tower at 6'6" to 6'7". Nothing wrong with it, except when I'm at someone's house that has low ceilings! ooch. We are what we are. Life's too short (haha) to not enjoy what you've got.

I`m 5`10"..... It usto make me uncomfortable but i`m kinda over that now, not really sure how it happened but one day i just kinda realized i can`t change it so why dwell on it. In the club i love it, i wear the highest heels i can tolerate. I feel good knowing i can say that i`m the tallest girl in the club. Once we had a girl that was taller than me come in and i actually got kinda anoyed, lol, go figure. The only problem i really have anymore is that i flat out refuse to date any guy that isn`t at least 6`1.

Lalitha is right- I don't always care for people's remarks about my height..but I love my long legs too much to wish I was shorter. I'm about 6ft and when the skirts and heels (almost all my heels are 4 or 5 inches) come out- the necks start twisting. The gas station by my house has a clear view of the highway. When I'm putting gas in the car I hear the horns blowing as they drive by.
I admit- there are days I feel self-conscious, but that's when other people point out the obvious in an annoying way. The infamous "Damn, you're tall!" I want to say "Yeah no shit." but I haven't the guts.

I just noticed the 'transvestite' remark Mermaidnz made- I've felt that before- but I won't allow myself to think it. Especially when people act like all women should be petite and cute and if you aren't you are unattractive.

Besides I like minis too much NOT to wear them- and I refuse to wear them with flats. So there.

I too am 5'10. i love it.. i wear whatever size heels i feel like wearing... yeah it gets super irritating when guys say things like "god your so fucking tall, are you like 6'2?" just shut the fuck up and get a dance. I agree with pleasurevictim about some people thinking that girls should be petite and cute and if you aren't you are unnattractive.... There are some guys out there that just do not like tall girls.. but then again there are plenty who do....

Be proud of your height... I remember listening to the news about 1 year ago when a girl got both of her legs strethed (broken and repinned) so that she could be an airhostess... now that is dedication :-)

I am quite tall, however I always wear flat flat shoes, as I do not want to do any more damage to my legs, as I find my self wearing work shoes (4 inch heel) up to 8 hours a day (some times more) so I like to have my feet flat...
