Throughout the night at work I trade in all my 1's, as I hate to leave with hundreds of dollars in ones *pain in the ass to deposit at my bank*. So last week I traded in about 1500 bucks in 1's total, most of which I received 20's for. Somewhere in that mix, I received a counterfeit 20. I never really checked my money, as it was coming from the bar, and frankly I didn't think about it.
So, I go to my bank today, deposit 700 bucks in 20's, and a few hundreds, and leave. They call me shortly after to tell me that one of the 20's was fake, and that they were debiting my account for 20 bucks and calling the FBI. They asked where I got it, I told them at work, though it would be impossible for me to trace it's origin because I work in a bar. They told me the FBI would be in contact.
Ok, so that's bad enough. But now I go to pay one of my bills with my debit card, and my card is declined. There is MORE than enough money in there, so I assume they must have frozen my account. I left a message for the manager, but haven't heard back. Anyone know how long this will last??? Or what I need to do to get it unfrozen? Also, anyone else have experience with having to deal with the FBI over counterfeit money?![]()
