Default Ingrown hair...in the worst place

Guessing it got there from shaving but I have never had one in that um..region before and was wondering how you would get it out? It feels like a flat disc deep beneath the skin..should I even attempt this myself?

Depends on how deep it is. If you can see the hair I would say go for it. If it's in there good, you might just have to wait a little while. I have one right now in the front that hurts bad.

i have one "there" too right now! it's hard to see what your doing, you have to break your spine hurling over. i usually handle it myself, and use a pin and a pair of tweezers. pull that sucker out!

this is going to sound dumb as rocks but does a hair really come out? What does it look like, just a whole coiled up hair? How do you know when it's out all the way?

Oh hell yeah. The hair's in there growing alright. You'd be surprised how long it is. Especially if you're shaving everything.

I had one like that recently (hurt like hell!). I was lucky, it went away on it's own. Only thing I did was start taking hot baths with Epsom salts, I understand that helps draw them out. If it doesn't go away on it's own and you can't get it, a doc can get it out for you (also lot less risk of infection this way).

I had one that got infected there. Imagine a puddle of puss the size of my entire fingernail.

    Now go, squeeze it.

I have long had a serious problem with ingrowns in the Netherlands. Finally opted for laser hair removal. Might I say...the best money I think I have ever spent on myself.

Please be careful with squeezing though. I have several scars from where I have improperly treated folliculitis (ingrowns). Take a warm bath (with epsom salt as Nakedtruth suggested), continue to apply hot compresses with a wash cloth. This will soften the area and hopefully bring the hair to the surface of the skin if it is deeply burrowed. Just like a pimple, if it is is not "ready" (with a white head area) then I wouldn't mess with it. I would suggest using a super fine sterilized needle and just puncturing it rather than "popping" it with your fingers. Apply just a small amount of pressure and this should draw out pus, blood, and hopefully the hair too while also relieving tenderneess and pain. Have a sterlized pair of tweezers handy too if you need can see the hair and try to pull it out. Clean with alcohol and even some iodine if you have it.

Another tip... UV light works wonders to help see the pore where the hair follicle has ingrown. Inspect yourself in a tanning bed.
