    Sad Sad little newbie strippers!

At the Cheesecake Factory I ran into these 2 girls in the restroom a couple of months ago. They were wearing club clothes, and not the nice kind. The kind you see crack whores wearing at dives. I don't know how they didn't get thrown out of the resaraunt. Now I was there with my husband and son, wearing my mommy clothes. (I don't dress like I'm going to work, unless I'm going to work.) I guess they were trying to impress me or something, because I was the only other person in the bathroom, but they were talking about their "new job dancing" and how they wanted to go to Vegas and laughed and said "Well that will only take about 2 nights work". They were saying a guy just handed them $200 bucks the night before, and then said they were going to try to find a guy to pay for their dinner. Then one mentioned her boyfriend was getting some drugs for that night.

They were both pretty girls and you could just tell they could do well if they just cleaned up a little and tried to act with a little dignity. They were looking at me in my jeans and tank like I was inferior. I just left the bathroom as quickly as I could, but felt like I should have said something, I just didn't know what.

I wanted to scream "Clean yourself up, enroll in school, and get some self respect. Oh, and you won't find a decent guy looking like that." I resisted this urge by reminding myself that I am not their mommy.

I felt so bad for them, then I saw something similar this weekend at the Wild Pair. Another girl dressed like a whore in public, bragging about everyone wanting a piece of her pussy. What the hell is going on? Is the industry getting this bad?

    Anyway, thanks for listening.

Yuck. The best answer is none at all. Girls this stupid deserve to learn things the hard way.

You reminded me of the daughter of a family friend who KEEPS on getting STDs because she won't listen when people tell her to use prophylactics....(yes, we use simple words like "wrap it before you tap it" and "stop letting losers sleep with you.") The last straw was when we were trying to explain how to get through university on a budget & she looked at me big-eyed & said, "But Daddy's going to pay for it."
    I gave up.

I see this all the time. It makes me sick when I hear little high school girls talking about how they put on lingerie shows for their male friends and gave them lapdances. It makes me so sad when I see girls stripping when still in high school. It breaks my heart when I hear fresh 18 year old girls expressing interest in stripping because they hear that it makes a lot of money. Stripping as an ADULT BUSINESS, and those girls are still kids. They either get spoiled on it of they get eaten alive. I was dumb and naive once, but I learned quickly and put my money to good use.

Whenever I hear that a girl is considering stripping, I give them the, "You shouldn't be doing this, and here's why, but if you're going to do it anyway, follow this advice..." I don't care if I sound like a mommy, but I make it clear that I am not above them, and that I stripped too, so I'm not calling them sluts. I also tell them to at least try waitressing in a strip club first, or just do regular waitressing.

I'm only 18 and I dance. I don't plan on getting eaten alive or spoiled, just plan on putting myself through college. I know what you're saying is sometimes true of young girls who just want fast cash to shop/get high whatever. But it's definitely not true of all fresh 18 year olds. I have bills to pay as much as a 26 year old dancer does.

They'll learn the hard way. Just know that you have a good head on your shoulders, the right idea, and hope they figure it out....

Do you honestly think they would have listened to anything you would have said?

Roll with the pigs and you will get dirty - ie - they would have bad mouthed you and you would feel even worse.

    My take is:

You'd have to be really stupid to stay a stripper... but really smart to stop.

Because it's always the cracked-out ones who are in the industry until 50 with no savings that started out as "Teehee I got a new job dancing and made enough for speed!"

You also don't seem as dumb and naive as most 18 year olds. Honestly, unless an 18 year old has bills/tuition/kid-related expenses to pay for, or if she's a really precocious little thing who is using it to get somewhere or investing like heck, she should not be dancing. The problem with dancing is that it's a big privilege without a whole lot of responsibility. I'm not saying that it's easy, god knows I've hustled my ass off and played mind tricks that Ph.D's would love to study, but those with responsibilities are the ones who come out intact.

I have no problem with 18 year old's dancing. What bothered me was that these girls were so trashy and seemed proud of it (the trashiness not the stripping). They were also acting like they thought they were just the hottest things around, and I'm sure they would only be able to work at dives IMO.

Seriously what kind of girl goes to a decent restaraunt looking like that, then announces to a stranger that they are strippers and their boyfriend is buying drugs? Then one was bitching about finding a decent guy! I was thinking: "Really! You don't say? You cant find a good guy? Yeah, I'd be confused why a nice guy with money doesn't want to date someone who looks and acts like a whore. Uhn-Huh. Real mystery there!"

I guess I always banked by being the classy girl in the club, so acting this bad outside the club just shocked me. Most girls I know try to keep their stripping life and real life seperate. I am not ashamed of dancing, but realize outsider perceptions, so I do not advertise that I am a dancer unless we are in an appropriate place.

I think it's somewhat more common to see stupid strippers like that in smaller towns. I've seen them in other towns, even 10 years ago when the biz was nice. Those girls have no clue - they just see the crap spewed on MTV et all and try to mimic it. They'll either figure it out or get eaten. Most will just get eaten.

I know what you mean PookaShell, im 19, started dancing, and yes i have bills to pay and college to go to, and money to save to travel and for the future. i guess we are lucky. we arent dumb/naive like alot of young dancers. this job can be a great advantage.

and Jasmine, yeah i see alot of young dancers who act like their hot shit just because their dancers. and spend all of their money on SHOPPING and drugs/drinking. it is a tough job, and some girls at that age just cant handle it. u have to be mature to do this(right, anyways). sometimes i do feel like saying things to girls like that, but like Deogol said, they probably wouldnt have listened anyways. girls like that just have to learn on their own. i guess girls like that just think being sexual is the only way they can get attention. which is sad, really. i knew a girl like that, but she was molested as a child, so i can see why she acted the way she did. OH, and yeah, why would they be dressed like that in CHEESECAKE FACTORY? which sounds good by the way right now

On a similar note, for Halloween I saw two 15 or 16 year girls wearing stripper costumes from forplay catalog at the grocery store. And some middle aged man complemented them. How nice.

I can't stand when I see this. When i was about 20, my friend had a going away party for when she was moving across the country. She had 2 friends who were strippers that I had a lot of respect for. They were pretty, intelligent, well-dressed and fun to hang out with. They were not the 'stereotype' that I had previously assumed all strippers were about. Anywho...they knew this was going to be a family party at a restaurant that becomes a bar after a certain time (like at 10, all kids have to leave). Well, it was like 7PM, and they invited their friend, also a stripper, that had giant fake boobs, and was wearing the tiniest tube top and tiniest skirt with stripper shoes, big hair and LOTS of makeup. She had the fakest act of being ditzy and all she talked about was stripping and how much money she made. The whole thing was just uncomfortable, especially for my friend's grandparents and young cousins, etc. It's one thing to be proud of yourself and what you do, but this was insane.

It's one thing to be proud of yourself and what you do, but this was insane. I was proud of myself when I was an event planner, but you wouldn't see me walking around with linen and china samples and a chafer of catered food 24/7.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound snippish or short or anything, just saying that a fresh 18 year old dancer won't always act like that. I DO agree that these young type immature girls aren't realizing what they get themselves into and fuck up their lives by not going about a dangerous industry the right way. I also agree that its annoying seeing a bunch of 15 year old girls in stripper costumes at Halloween. Its like...embarrassing. When you see something on a 15 year old girl at Wal Mart and you're like hey Im going to wear that to work tonight...as a stripper.

I hate girls like that. But I know that they will have to learn the hard way. Just more fodder for the cannon. Watching them dance is sick twisted fun-like watching a train wreck; you know it's going to be ugly but you just can't look away.

I had just turned 19 when I turned to stripping, why I did it? Well I was living with a now ex-friend practically paying all of her bills so I could stay there, and I had just had a baby. I applied everywhere and I didn't have time to wait. I never got any calls from any of the places I applied for, even after I started stripping. I got back on my feet, after only a few weeks. I got my own place and now I am 21 in my third semester of school, and I don't regret stripping at all. I got taken advantage of, as in girls knew they could take customers from me, etc. I was dumb in that sense, but as far as getting washed up in drugs & what not Not Me The RedHotHoney!* Those girls are already on drugs at a young age, and are driven by a fast paced lifestyle. They want for now, not later. Your probaly going to frustrate yourself by trying to tell them how it is, but it's better to let them know that they are worthy of your advice. I really hope these girls straighten up, we already have enough older crackheads using the up the Gov funds!
