    Default charity dances

anyone ever here of these? at my club, these dances are $5, and all of it goes towards a charity of the night. The club doesnt take any of it, and neither do the dancers. They run these like once an hour.
it's a nice thought, but now all the guys are going to wait to buy the $5 dances instead of the normal 20-40 dollar dances!

    fuck that shit!

So the charity doesn't want the whole $20?

If I want to give to charity, I will (and do...and they are pretty happy that I'm not doing $5 dances.)

This is essentially the club trying to come off as a do-gooder with no expense to them and all to you. And you don't get any say in it! it's like them taking money out of your paycheck without asking, as far as I'm concerned.

It's a good idea, but they should make the charity dances higher priced, such as $18 insteada $20-40. Something where they a little bit of money so they get the dances, but not so cheap that everyone will get the charity dances.

Although I do donate money to charity any time I see a cancer charity fund, I do not know if the charity dance thing is good for every stripper to do. Me? I have a nice apartment with nice furniture, 3 cars, and I eat as much as a pig...so for me, I could afford to forgo a whole night's earnings once a week. However, I cannot speak for everyone else. For example, when I first started dancing, I couldn't even afford a studio/efficiency roof over my head. I was also relying on getting my health by on Ramen and rice and other assorted dirt-cheap foods beacuse I seriously couldn't afford anything better, especially with trying to keep my student loans from going into default and because I was trying to save up a good-sized deposit for my own apartment(when you have shitty credit, it's hard to find a place that will grant you a lease and when you do, often you have to pay a large deposit; luckily I have much better credit now so I don't have to worry about that, but I had to start somewhere). I was NOT in a spot to donate to charity; I woulda readily qualified for welfare back then, and I am sure that there are many single mom dancers(or even non-single mom dancers, as I was) who are in the same boat. I am not saying this to be selfish, or to say that I wouldn't have done charity dances back when I was poor...I'm just saying that not everyone can afford to do this, because--no offense--some dancers are at the poverty line themselves. By offering the charity dance, a poverty-stricken dancer might look unjustifyingly "selfish" if she turns down the charity dance or tries to convince the customer to get the higher-priced, higher-money-yield dance. That isn't fair to her.

I think they should make the charity dances higher in price(to discourage guys who only want to be cheapskates), and consult the girls ahead of time. For example, have the girls who want to do charity dances, go up on the stage to promote the charity dances. For example, they could parade onto the stage wearing the club's T-shirts, the DJ would announce that they're working hard to please customers + help the needy at the same time, and then they could parade around stage for a song until the customer goes up to them to request a dance. That way, the customers would be aware of which girls are doing the charity dances. I think donating to charity is a great idea, I just don't think it's good for everyone; you need to be able to take care of yourself first if you want to be able to take care of the less fortunate.

I did some dancing for charity at a party once. A friend had died recently and I donated all the money to his favourite one, everyone thought it was a great tribute and I had fun. One of my motivations was that it's easier to get people to buy stuff if it's for charity, so I don't see any reason why you can't charge full price for them.

^^^ Agreed. They should have a jar for donations or something if they are so interested in charity. I donate money to two specific charities, one that benefits the local animal shelters and one that benefits the local childrens hospital. I get to decide my terms for charity not my work. What about the girls who can't afford to donate to charity, some people have their own children they are struggling to take care of.

Actually...just thought of a better idea. Insteada making the charity dances slightly less than the regular lapdances, why don't they make the charity dances the same price or slightly more? For example, $25 insteada $20 and then insteada taking the normal $5 house fee out of the $20 dance, they put a full $10 towards the charity and the girl still gets paid the same amount($15) as she would for doing a normal dance. That is just an example...feel free to adjust according to how much dances are and how much of a cut you guys get from the dances. This might work because then management doesn't see a cent of the charity money, but the girls still get paid for working. After all, we are the ones working and doing the dance.

I agree with you, PookaShell, when you point out that some girls are in a poverty situation themselves and can't donate to charity. I was in that boat when I first started dancing, and I didn't even have any kids! Without going into specifics, I was more poor than the average charity recipient and I started dancing so that I could take care of myself without having to depend on welfare programs. If I donated all my night's earnings to charity, how would I have afforded food to eat and stay healthy? And if I didn't stay healthy, how would I be able to go back to work and earn more money for charity? Or if I donated all my earnings to charity but went the welfare route, I would be costing people back the charity money in the form of taxes to cover my welfare, which defeats the point! I don't think it's selfish at all to say that you should take care of yourself, before taking care of charity.

That's stupid to make them cheaper. Then guys wait for cheaper dances and the dancer doesn't get any money the WHOLE night because they're all waiting for the cheap dances that don't go to the dancer.

Make the charity dances $25... because it's going to charity it should cost more.

Those pins I buy are always marked up to like $10 when they're worth $2.

Once a month might actually work as a marketing thing. Select a charity each month, make a big deal of it and do it for a few hours, perhaps at a time when the club is normally quiet. Oh, and don't charge $5! People will notice the club, maybe some who wouldn't go in otherwise will, but it wouldn't be often enough to let them get their lapdance fix from it. Girls can then choose not to be involved, although management might like to tell them they have to if they're short of girls.

They should make those dances last like 20 seconds. it can be used to upsell to a full price dance if they liked it.

i worked in a small town club. they were very into toys for tots, our club had tons of toys under the tree.
anyway, we used to do one charity dance a night around christmas.
it was the same price and the bouncer came around with champagne bucket to collect.
you did not have to do it if you didnt want to. i was fine with that and i was sure the charity got all the money collected

We had charity dances for other dancers with sick kids, and for a bartender whose son was killed. Even then we gave full price 20 dollar dances or 2 for 30's and gave all the proceeds. They only ran it once or twice a night, but dancing for five dollars???? INSANE
