I'd say only if you think it's relevant, like you possibly injured yourself with a dancing strain in the muscles in the area. If she asks if you do alot of physical activity or something. I wouldn't lie if she asked something specific but other than that you probably wouldn't have to. If you need her to consider any and all possible reasons for your pain then you might just tell her.
So basically I'm useless.
I don't see why you can't tell your doctor. While if it was dancing related it's probably just a muscle strain, I've heard rumours from girls at my club that a girl got chlamydia from the pole. I'm not even sure if that's possible, but our club is full nude so there's lots of stories like that.
Anyways, I don't think you should be worried at all about telling your doctor? I told my doctor that I dance, because I tell her everything going on in my life, haha, and she noticed my "stripper knees".

I wouldn't. It's none of her buisness. I always just say student. People.... especially "civilian" women treat dancers like we're aliens most of the time.

ahh see i just dont know if it matters or not! i had chlamydia (i dont knnow how to spell it haha) TWICE but it's possible it didnt go away the first time with medicine. you're supposed to be tested after medicine and then again 3 months later because it could've been a false negative, but i didnt know that until recently and i had a different doctor then. when i went to this new doctor for my annual, my std results were all negative, but my pap came back abnormal. she said she wanted to wait 6 months because it usually takes care of itself, but she didnt tell me anything other than it was abnormal. when i had the chlamydia before, the only symptom i had was pelvic pain, so i'm scared again, but it is not physically possible for me to have gotten it again since my last tests. i havent even been HAVING sex, but the few times i did i was very careful to use condoms every time. so i'm not sure if i need to tell her or not t hat i dance.. ive only seen her twice, so i'm not sure how she'll react.
If you can't be honest without fearing judgement by your dr, you may need a new one. I say tell. Maybe it matters, maybe it doesn't, but it's good for her to know all the facts first.

on a related note, does any one know if a doctor would report that you dance to any government agencies for the purposes of investigating your income?

I think that's just rumours. If some girl DID get chlamydia, she probably just blamed it on the pole to make herself look better to the rest of you. Although I dunno why anyone would tell the girls at work about something like that anyway...Originally Posted by mia_bella
As for OP, I think you should tell her. Agreed that if you are afraid to tell because of how she might react, it's probably time for a new doc. Have you seen her before or is this your first visit?

i've only been to her twice, so that's just why i'm not sure of how she'll react.Originally Posted by Bridgette

Anything you tell your doctor is covered by Doctor/Patient priviledge. So, they can't just go reporting whatever they feel like, unless they feel that you are in danger (abuse, etc).
does your new doctor know that you did have chlamydia before you started seeing her?

also, some drs will refuse to practice on you if you lied to them. It puts everyone involved at risk. First and foremost is your health, then you can think about other peoples opinions. drs are trained to be non judgemental, and they have patient confidentially clauses and an oath.

yes, she has my file. i stayed with the same office, just a new doctor because my old one left.Originally Posted by mia_bella
i went tonight and i didnt tell her.. i didnt know how to just slip it in haha..and nothing she said wouldve made me feel like i needed to tell her. she gave me std tests again, and if it comes back positive with as careful as i've been i might never have sex AGAINand she wants me to go get a sonogram to check for cysts or anything.. but if nothing shows up on the tests or sonogram, she said i have to go to my regular doctor. i think im even more nervous now, i was hoping she'd have an answer for me! i know its not her fault, but this sucks.
