Default Yea, so I'm PREGNANT and I poledance too

Someone, anyone please tell me I'm not the only one who is concerned about this. There is a girl at my club who is 4 months pregnant. She smokes occasionally through the night and when she gets on stage she dances on the pole. Like, she climbs to the top, does spins, and other really dangersous moves. I'm sooo concerned for the baby. I find myself getting so upset everytime she walks up to the stage.

Mgnt. must know she's preggy because she doesn't even wear dancer shoes anymore.

Shit, I don't even know what to do with myself! I'm just so concerned over this baby. The last thing I want is for her to get hurt and something happen to the child.

    As questionable as these decisions are;

Ultimately exercise is not generally bad for you when you are pregnant. If she has done the moves thousands of times before, there is no particular reason she should injure herself now. And the fact is that she is not an incubator, and although her decisions seem questionable, she is still the one that gets to make them.

Wow, rough spot. As horrible as this is to say as advice, it's not really any of your biusiness.

I hate saying this, cause hearing that makes me feels concerned as well (especially the smoking part!!), but it's her body, her baby.

    It sucks.

If she's skilled on the pole, then it wouldn't be too bad to be doing the moves at this stage in her pregnancy (her muscles/body, etc are used to it). I mean, I still did massive amounts of cardio and my regular weight lifting routine until I was 6 1/2 months preggers and then started easing off a bit...and worked out more moderately until I was 7 1/2 months.

As much as her smoking bothers me...there's nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. But, its great that you are so concerned with the baby.

No, she's alright..she's no Pro. That's what bothers me. She's only been dancing for like maybe 6 months longer than me total. She does some moves that are some really close, close calls and I feel like she's not gonna be so lucky next time.

I always just work and avoid everyone at work. And mind my own business but dam this girl has really put me through it..I'm so nervous

Yeah, I hear you...that sucks. Maybe she's just trying to have a miscarriage...however subconcious the thought is??

    HER BODY, HER CHOICE!!!

    KIDDING! That girl sucks.

I think it's ok to be a stripper and plan/choose to have a baby, but smoking? Holy shit. I worked with a girl who drank, smoked cigs and weed, etc all through her pregnancy. I said something to her gently like "You know, just give it up for these few months to give your kid a better chance at his whole life, I'll bring you a bottle of grey goose and a pack of cigs to the hospital after you give birth to celebrate" (she couldn't breast feed, btw) and I got A LOT of shit for it. Everyone told me it's none of my business, which it obviously isn't, but behavior like that is like A STINKING DEAD RAT, YOU JUST CAN'T MISS IT. It's like, HEY your booze and cigs are lowering your kid's IQ and birth weight as we speak. You would tell someone off if they were blowing smoke in their child's face, right? We take keys away from drunks to keep them from driving, but telling a pregnant woman she's a dumb ass to smoke is inappropriate? Someone needs to tell the dumb bitch. AND YES, I know how hard it is to quit smoking, I did it myself.

If you can't give up smoking and drinking during your pregnancy, you are not prepared to make the sacrifices needed to be a GOOD parent and have no business having a child.

If a dancer wants to have a child, go ahead, but why would you even put yourself in the club with all the smoke and stress on your body, much less smoke yourself AND do poletricks? If she WANTED a baby, she should have saved money and lined up another job for THE MINUTE she found out she was pregnant. Just the second hand smoke and sometimes-demeaning aspect of the job is inappropriate for a pregnant woman, in my opinion. What, is she going to charge double because she's dancing for two?

PARENTING IS A BIG DEAL. I have no forgiveness for people who have "oops babies" and don't step up to the plate and do it right.

I think it's so ridiculous that people have sex, don't take proper measures to NOT get pregnant, are surprised when they get pregnant, have the child, and resent her/him forever. A lot of these people mistreat their bodies/child during their pregnancy, and are only half ass parents.

It's nice this girl is taking responsibility and choosing to have the baby... but DAMN! Put down the newports.

Everyone knows condoms cost a fortune and are impossible to use... JK. It's so EASY to not get pregnant. Birth control requires a lot less money and effort than having a baby. There's no excuse to accidentally get pregnant if you don't want to - double up if you're scared! Pills and condoms. Depo and spermicide. Whatever. Anything! I really don't believe half of the people who say they got pregnant while taking the pill CORRECTLY. They probably missed a day or two and didn't think to use a back up method for a week LIKE THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED WITH YOUR BIRTH CONTROL TELL YOU TO.

Horrifying. She should automatically lose custody.

She already has like one or two.

She's actually (believe it or not) not too bad compared to her friend. But her friend isn't pregnant.... at the moment.

If she falls she'll probably hurt herself more than the baby. There's alot of padding between whatever hard surface she hits and the baby, especially at 4 months. It is scary but I would be more concerned if she was 7-8 months along. But maybe by that time she'll see that it's too cumbersome to do all those twists and spins

I see people in my town pushing their babies around when it's like 30 degrees outside without anything to protect them from the cold & smoking right in the babies face. I wish people who didn't want children just wouldn't have them. It's so sad to see what they do to them. I overheard two young girls (about 20) having this conversation once "so last friday I was just all drunk laying on the floor for hours & that stupid baby kept yelling". Hello, it's yelling for help! On the news tonight was a woman who's baby had 30 cigarette burns on it & a man who had done all sorts of things to his baby, like pulling it's arm until it broke & zapping it with a cattle prod.

I can't believe what I'm hearing! I mean I know people do some stupid things, but ****! I'm 5 months pregnant and have to wait to dance until after my son is born. I understand having to dance longer, but pole tricks and smoking? I had to quit, too, and I know how hard it is. I guess I have different views? My child wasn't planned but I sure love him already. I can't imagine the mentality of people who do things like that while they're carrying.

I was all ready to congradulate CK on your little "new addition" to your life. Okay, so you aren't actually expecting. I have nothing else to add to the thoughts already expressed here, but if you ever do get pregnent, CK, we'll be [almost] the first to know, right?

Irresponsible pregnant women at work really upset me, too. There is one girl at my club who is about four-five months pregnant, works several times a week, drinks and smokes regularly. Ugh.

Oh god... here's a great dialogue I heard in the dressing room last night
d1: Oh I'm so hungry... ohhhh maybe I'm pregnant, I want to have a baby so bad
d2: uh no you don't want a baby honey
    d1: yes i do! i want a baby
d2: do you want a boy or a girl
d1: i don't care... i just want a baby. shit, i;m marrying my boyfriend next year anyway so my baby's gonna have a daddy too

    me: *shudder*

I worked with a girl who injured herself on the pole at 2-3 months. She was a SERIOUS poledancer and was obviously very used to it. But she strained or something and had to be taken off stage and rushed to the hospital. Pole work isn't like regular exercise. It's much harsher movements. I don't think a prego girl should be poledancing, but, it is still her choice. If she wants to take that risk, it's her problem.

I dont think its so bad - plenty of women still do sport and exersize whilst pregnant. I imagine she'll get to a point where its not possible to do all the moves but she might have given up stripping by then anyway.
The body is pretty tough. I read a couple of things about pregnant women doing a pole dancing demonstration just a couple of days ago.

At the end of the day it is her body and choice and there's not much you can do to make her stop or start anything.

I don't see anything wrong with poledancing itself while pregnant. Just one of many examples, my ballet teacher danced (contortionist leaps and all) into her third trimester for all three of her pregnancies and they were all fine (aside from a few bouts of morning sickness!).

The smoking deal is a whole 'nother story! There's NO excuse for that!

Cinn I will be concern about mother and baby. Not only could she hurt her baby. She could hurt herself in doing these tricks. the pole is to dangerous given the fact she can fall. But you cant tell people anything! I guess mgnt will wake up. After she falls and hurt herself and her baby. Blame the mistake on the club and sue

LOL, I was thinking the same thing! CK's having a baby?!?! WOOT WOOT!!

But now that I know you're not... I can see where you're concerned, and I know the feeling that you're talking about, that nervous feeling you get everytime the chick does a pole trick or lights up. I knew a girl that was doing coke, smoking, pole trick, turning tricks, you name it while she was pregnant. I think she eventually had an abortion, but very late in the pregnancy (like 4 months or later, isn't that illegal?) I guess all you can do is pray that nothing happens to her or the baby

I think it's terrible. And even if she is used to doing the same moves over and over again, with the weight gain, her whole center of gravity will shift. Hell, I fell on my face twice while pregnant, and I was just walking.

As for the other stories mentioned - I can't stand hearing shit like that. WTF is wrong with people.

I work with one pregnant girl who is 2 months along. She says she doesn't feel like smoking as much now and usually takes a few puffs and comes back later to relight the cigarette. Its like "Hello! your body is trying to tell you something and your new lowered interest in smoking should only make it easier to quit!" God, I wish my body would lower its interest in smoking!
