    Changing your Stripper Name...

When you decide to change clubs, do you keep the same stripper name, or pick something totally different? On one end, I feel like if I keep my same name, and move onto another club a customer can look me up (if he's on gasp SCL or something like that) But another side of me wants a whole new persona..new name, new clothes, and new attitude.

    So what do you do?

I used my real name at one point, which I kept when I moved clubs. Generally I tend to use stage names though, and when I do I tire of them really fast. Being called a name not my own tends to grate (which is why I went back to using my own name for a bit), hence I'm really eager to swap it for another name I don't hate yet, given half a chance.

At first, I used to change my name at every club, but then I decided that it'd be easier for custys to keep track of me (and me keep track of them) if my name stays the same. My dancer personality, Sondra, can have a new attitude at each club without a new name.

I stick with the same name as that way I am known everywhere I go in the area. Especially if you have a stage name that is a real woman's name, it makes a dancer seem more "authentic" to always dance by the same name.

I kept mine, keep in mind that if any girls from your old club work at your new club, that they may call you by the 'wrong' name. I have a hell of a time remembering one dancer's name, she's changed it 3 times :/

I changed mine once...when I was in Philly, to something less 'stripperish' than Scarlett. It didn't work out for me, I kept pausing too long when people asked my name, or saying Scarlett by accident. I felt like I was lying, kind of starting the whole interaction off with a lie...weird, I know, that that should matter....but I just do better as Scarlett.

Your name is your brand. Think about it as such. If coke changed their name everytime they entered a new country to start up business (this is purely to use an anology as such) then people would be very confused. Seriously.

This is why I try to keep my name every time I work in a club or at least use a derivative.

My full stage name is Vanessa Stacy. In most clubs I only use the first name (Vanessa) however it if it being used like it was during my recent short stay at Honey Pot in Darwin I chose a derivative such as Nessa, Ness, Nessie so that I could still use Vanessa and just explain the other name as my nickname.

Regardless, I try to keep the same name as it is your brand. Find one name that works for you and keep it.

Hmm. The doorgirl dubbed me Keeley as it was the only name in the world not taken there. And Keeley shall I stay.

i have a list, if i go to a new club i just take the name at the top of the list, often its already used by another dancer, so i move down till i find one that not.

i keep the same stage name for all my shoots, and try to use it in the club when its not taken.

I started with the stage name Kelly, then when I went topless I changed it to Chloe.
After working at that club with that name for awhile, I went to another club (my current club) and they already had a Chloe (which sucks, because I really liked that name). So I called my little sister and she recommended the name Riley. I love it now!
If I change clubs again, I'll try to keep it, if not I'll see if there's a Chloe. If there's a Riley and a Chloe, I'm screwed.

I say change it if your old name doesn't fit your new persona. I've worked in different states with very different vibes. When I knew my old name wouldn't "fly" so well I changed it. When I was in a very different place emotionally I changed it.

I started out as Katherine, but when I switched clubs and there was one already, I became Amber. Unfortunately for me, I love that name!!! And it's such a common stripper name so whenever I try a new club (which has not been for a long time) I tend to need to use a new name...

Had my stripper name so long. I guess it's good b/c I answer to it. But part of the gig of being a stripper is you get to change it if you want. Have fun!

i'm pondering that too...but i'm not changing clubs, I'm just thinking of a name change! Right now I'm Emily, which I love--it's cute and pretty rare for a "stripper name", and it stands out among all the hordes of girls at my club whose names all end in A.

But then a custy fucked me up by suggesting I go by Elena. ooh! what an awesome name! And might fit me better as it's a bit more foreign, usually a Russian or Italian name...and custys are forever asking me where i'm from or trying to talk to me in different languages b/c they think/know i'm from somewhere else.

So I'm torn--I love both names!

Anyway, CK, i see no problem changing your name even if you're not changing clubs. Sometimes a change is just refreshing and energizing; it's nice to have something new, to change things up a bit. The only problem could be if you have regulars that will come looking for you and asking for you by your old name, then there could be some confusion! But I see nothing wrong with just telling them that you changed your name...several girls at my club have done just that.

I keep the same name. Only time I would change it is if another dancer has the same name, and that hasn't happen yet. My stage name is not fancy but unique.

GCG has some great points - I keep mine the same so customers can look me up and doesn't creat any confusion for regulars. But it is just a name and most guys don't care anyway. Change it if you think it may invigorate you a bit and hey, you can always change it back!

What is it with rocker/goth chicks and the name "Zoe"? Anytime I've met a rock/goth dancer, Zoe was her name. LOL.

Ok ok, one was named Platnium, but that was rare...LOL

I was Akasha for a long time. When I first started in the adult biz, I was addicted to Anne Rice, thus the name. but there's ALOT of dommes named Akasha. But as far as I know, no Akashas in the SCs. It was too difficult for customers to hear though.
When I started working in upscale clubs, I changed it. Now I go by my mom's first name, hahahahah!
I'm thinking if I work in really, really hood-ass club, I'm gonna call myself "Red Hot" (im a redhead) it will be hood alter-ego, hehehe. Since the chicks there have names like Milk or Fendi or Purple Diamond anyway.

I wanted to start out as 'Willow' I thought it was unique and everyone said it was rubbish, so I am now Georgia. Keep wanting to change it everytime I have a break, or just one night be something else!

Agirl who was at our club changed it nightly, Margarita, Juanita, Maria, AnnaBella, Bonnie, Ooh la la, Oohla, Margaret...

I feel that, as a showgirl, I can no longer change my name. I'm stuck in a "Are you THE Morrigan Slayde?!" name because it's, as a showgirl, how I'm identified in the throngs of women. :/ if I could change between clubs... ahhh...

I changed my name once because the bartender was named my stage name and it was her real name. And then i became chrissy.

When my old club closed i became cassie for a short while but it was so disorienting, as i kept intro-ing myself as chrissy. But at that club tehre was already a christine, christy, christa (who was pd1982) and christina. so they wouldn't let me be chrissy even though it wasn't technically taken.

But i knew a girl who changed each season. Summer, Autumn, Winter... June, May etc. and that was really too much for custies to handle. we never knew what to call her, either. so stick with the name you pick for a good bit. name hoppers are the worst!

    Love it!
