Hi! I'm new here, I just decided to start trying to get work as a dancer. My last job was in a pet store, and I have a few snakes. I was wondering if I can dance with them?

welcome. Dancing with snakes sounds cool, but maybe more like a feature thing. I would imagine you would have to clear it with the club first. good luck![]()

does loud music effect snakes or hurt them in any way? seems like it would be a pain in the ass trying to keep them somewhere safe when you weren't on stage. i would wait till you're a good dancer before you to try to involve props/animals/etc.
anyway, are you planning to go to school while you dance?
Yep, I'm a biology major. The snakes don't mind many things, just as long as they're warm. But you are very right - I should get down the fundamentals first - I'd hate to fall and have a snake go flying at someone, lol.![]()
Yes, snakes DO mind the vibration. Snakes are very sensitive to it and some use vibration to hunt. Snakes don't "hear" like we do. Go to the SC and put your whole head on the stage floor.... See how it feels. It's not the loudness of the music that will bother a snake, but the bass. Also, some snakes, like ball pythons are extremely sensitive to stress and may refuse food, which could possibly lead to death. So, do your snake a favor and leave it at home where it can be undisturbed, kept warm and safe. I suggest finding a dummy prop- a realistic looking fake one. Good luck to you.

i think that sounds cruel and it is exploiting the animal - sorry but im an animal lover and i can't stand people using animals in that sort of way.
the snake would mind the noise, the smoke, the vibrations and where would u put the snake after your performance? u cant just leave it in the dressing room.
NOT cool
Yeah, I didn't think about smoke (he hates it!) And being out for so long, and I really don't like for him to be out of my sight. Maybe he'd be good in some photos but that's about all for Calvin's career, lol. At any rate, thanks for the advice. He has a vet appointment next week, needs to be vaccinated again.![]()

i do think it's cruel as well, and dangerous, but my inane curiosity would just like to see it once, kinda like the features who light their boobs on fire. i also don't think it would make you any more money. i'd think you'd lose money with guys who are scared of snakes, and when you have to leave stage and ptu them in cage and then eventually when you have to go get them from cage. just seems like too much effort.
Love it!

Depends on the club. I think you have to be a particularly fantastic dancer to dance with snakes, though. I think it'de be tacky if you weren't a skillful entertainer and you tried to dance with a snake

don't snakes do massive dumps? that would be hot for the customers. you doing some sexy bit then the snake craps on you! hehe.

im glad to hear that u do care for your snake and do care about his welfare. i think for a photoshoot it would be ok coz u can keep an eye on him and it wont take as long. that would be good for a business card - u in a sexy pose with a snake wrapped around u.
i love snakes! used to have a diamond python, want to get another one.
Photoshoot, yep. But a club with the harsh vibrations. smoke and remember..many clubs are FREEZING. I know almost every club I've worked at keeps the temp really cold so the dancers dont get sweaty flinging around a pole at 20mph! The chill would not be good for him either. And you always run the risk of some a-hole grabbing the snake and hurting him. Even in no touch clubs..they somehow find a way to grab us.
All in all...really not worth the risk to the animal. Theres a reason animal rights people went off on Britney Spears when she had a snake on stage with her.
People always ask me, did I ever learn anything when I was a stripper? Yeah, I did. One man plus two beers equals 20 dollars.

Just remember...if the world didn't suck, we'd all fall off.
The snake idea reminds me of the movie Striptease. lol
It takes 46 muscles to frown but only 4 to flip 'em the bird

Or was it Players Club?

Personally, I would be turned off by any animal (especialy the cold blooded kind) in a show featuring the female body. But some might like it. Here's a link to a woman who I think used to strip (still does?) with a snake, and does magic shows now.

Just keep the snake off the floor. There's a snake dancer at my club and she just brings it out when the club is packed. He doesn't go anywhere near the floor, ever.
Sounds more suitable for a classic burlesque show than a modern strip club. Seems to me that this environment--performer and animal partner, both up on stage--presents less chance of unintended consequences, such as the beasty getting lost or hurt (or freaking out a patron with a phobia).
Thanks for posting my site.

I have always been a magician. I work as a feature in strip clubs but not in the common sense of “stripping”. I do not dance with my snakes; it is more of a display or in my magic tricks.
In the long run I would advise against it. If you’re doing it to add to your show chances are it will cost you more to care for the animal than you will ever make off the animal. You will need multiple snakes, back stage care, heat, humidity and on and on. You can read my care page for more on that.
If you’re doing it for your enjoyment please read over some of my site and give it some thought. It can be very rewarding but an awful lot of work.

Snake babe, your site rules! You are very, very wise on the ways of reptiles! If most people know half of what you do - or just took 10 minutes to check out your page - I wouldn't have seen all the neglect and abuse herps have gone through
That's a good chunk of the reason I left the pet store industry, it gets too sad. You're doing a great thing! Keep it up!
P.S. when I get a website I'm totally linking to you!
Thanks for the compliments Eve21
I know your frustration with pet shops. The neglect is so bad. It breaks my heart.
If you have any photos of you with one of your snakes feel free to post them on my forum. My snake fans would love to see another snake loving hottie!
Hugs and Hissessss,
Maria
