When I took my kids trick or treating on Halloween, we noticed FOUR houses that had trees up already. WTF?
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.
does anyone who lives alone put up a tree? Just curious. I don't put one up and sometimes I feel like a Scrooge, but it's just me and my dogs (who would probably deface it in some way).
I never decorate for any holiday. It's weird being the only hosue withou lights up and stuff though.
If I didn't have a kiddo I wouldn't put one up at all, but I do so I will likely put a tree up two weeks before Xmas.

I never put up a tree when I lived alone. Whats the point? I would only get sad to wake up christmas morning to discover that Santa Clause isn't real, and did not come in the night to put gifts under my tree. Save myself the depression.
Now I live with someone and we tried to put up a tree last year, but the cats like it to much, and destroyed it.

I typically put my tree up the first weekend of Dec.

Cant afford a tree. Havent put one up in years. If I could, I'd put one up even if I were alone. I love how they look.

i usually do it within a week after thanksgiving. i probably won't get a big one this year. i'll try to find a small "table top" real one. i'm going to be away for a week during xmas, so it won't get much use.
Not religious, don't have kids, live alone= I'm not going to have a tree. If I'm bored, I do occsionally make stockings for my cats, and fill them with cat-nip gifts.![]()

I was thinking about putting the christmas tree up this week.

We put ours up right after Thanksgiving...but mainly because Makayla loves to lay under it and stare at the lights (its one of those fiber optic trees that change color patterns...gorgeous).
I'll have Joe out later today putting the lights strings out...we won't turn them on until we put up the tree...but it'll probably be cold as fuck by then and I do have some sympathy. LOL
Traditonally we put ours up the day after Thanksgiving. Did it that way when I was little and growing up and have carried it on for my kids. And we dont take it down till Jan 1st.

Dont really have room or outlets for a tree anyways this year. Saving money to move again. If I had room Id put one in. My cat likes to drink all the water out of it though.

i want to put mine up now but i know i'm jumping the gun big time. i usually wait until 1 Dec. i bought a whole new bunch of decorations last week. god, what a sucker for holiday.
i took a drive up the coast yesterday, and it seems that no matter how affiliated with the law i may be, i STILL want to steal a pine tree off the highway. i can't help it. it is a deep, primal, tree-thieving urge. (think homer, dragging home a tree infested with creatures)
haven't done it yet... not worth the career i suppose.
I put up some decorations on my front porch a few days ago. I hated taking the Halloween stuff down though, I love Halloween. I'm not sure when I'll put up the tree. Probably before Thanksgiving, so when my sister comes to visit she can see the presents I already bought her sitting under the tree.

A friend of mine has not taken his down in 4 years now. He just picks it up and moves it out of the way. It's like a 8 foot tree!Originally Posted by Mastridonicus

I live alone and I'm not putting up a tree. What's the point? It would just be a huge pain in the butt. I DID get an apple cider scented air freshner instead of the usual lavendar... I thought that was pretty festive of me.Originally Posted by Emily

I dunno ....seems like alot of people put their tree up right after Thnxgvg, or the first week of Dec. Isn't that a LONG time to have it up? Don't you get sick of the sight of it long before Xmas?
I drag my little 2 footer (in it's planter) from the backyard into the house around Dec 20th, and then it's right back into the yard right after New Years....ornaments & all.![]()
Last year was the earliest I've ever put mine up. I put it up on November 15th. Ha. Normally though, it goes up either Thanksgiving Night or the night after Thanksgiving. We'll be at the In-Laws' until we get a place (probably after the first of the year), so we won't be putting our own tree up. My Mother-In-Law is like me though, and puts theirs up the day after Thanksgiving. She starts cranking the Xmas tunes on the stereo RIGHT AFTER Thanksgiving dinner.
Well, I drove my mom to the airport yesterday...and forgot to bring my CD's so I turned on a local station...they are already playing xmas tunes all day, every day. WTF? Before it used to be the week of xmas, they'd play the tunes all day...how many times do we need to hear "holly, jolly christmas" before xmas? Makes me hate xmas music.

First week of December, as usual. It's traditional for us...cookie making, decorating, hot chocolate and the Chipmunk Christmas albums playing. My daughter is 19 now and she's all ready and waiting for this too!
