    Thumbs down Dressing Room Issues

They are taking our chairs so we cant sit down. This is really starting to piss me off. We cant take a break away from the sometimes rude custys and sit in the back for a few minutes. They say we have less than 2minutes in the dressing room or we get fined and no more than two girls at a time. And absolutley no personal calls.

This is getting out of hand. And Ive tried to go to other clubs but this is the only one in my area with any buisness right now. I feel like I have to put up with this but I dont know if I can anymore. Im really considering quitting the buisness soon. Its just not fun anymore and its really hard to make money when your not having a good time at work.

I know theres got to be somebody that has felt the same way. How do you get out of this rut?

I can understand them limiting the time dancers spend in the dressing room because some girls spend way too much time in there, but what you described is ridiculous! It takes me more than 2 minutes to change my outfit, freshen up my makeup, etc. What are you supposed to do when you eat your dinner?

    arent we self employed??

I think it is absaloutely stupid that any club does not allow the girls to have time out. Along with their stupid long hours rules and fines, this is not professional on the part of the club! Yes some girls sit in the dresser room, but like I care - every minute in the dresser room is another dollar lost - that means I can make a killing if they want to sit in the dresser room!

Find one of those old guys who is ALWAYS in the club and ask him if you can take your sit down breaks w/him. He'll love it. Thats what I've done in the past and it works. Also, if you want to be alone/with out a custy you can sit down at an empty table and chill out for a sec, but that works better w/another dancer.
You can also ask the manager to be a little less strict, like say raise him up to 5 minutes. It's better then nothing. If eanouph dancers ask for 5 minutes he might go with it.

That's what I'm saying. I think clubs are starting to take advantage of all the new girls that don't know exactly what an independent contractor is. So they set these ridiculous rules, and the veterans either follow suit like the hoards of newbies, or quit

susie2 has it! I've worked in clubs in the past which were (and are) strict about dancers in the dressing room. Every club has those patrons that come and don't spend alot of money on the dancers if any yet are really easy to talk with when you want to look busy whilst having a break from working the room........... use them!

I know I have in the past. I've sat with them for ages and because they are regulars the club won't say a word usually to them (or me whilst I am with them). Yes you are giving them "free time" however it's a compromise imo. You get to have that break you want without it being frowned upon by the management as such.

That's fucked! Do you have to stand up to do your make up then? I'd be like fine, and park my ass in a dark corner of the club when I feel like taking a break.

That's really horrible. If they're going to treat you like employees, you should get a paycheck and paid breaks. (Yea, like THAT would ever happen)

If you come in past 8pm you have to do your makeup standing up if you eat later than that you also have to eat standing up. Im going to try talking to them about it but if anyone has read any of my other rants about this club then you would know how unreasonable they can be. Oh and one more question Ive heard this is illegal but I was wondering if anyone knows but our dressing room has a hidden camera in the smoke detector that goes to the owners house. We call it the "pussy cam" and warn every girl that comes into the DR.

YES! It is illegal to have a cam in the dressing room! The club can have one outside of the door. Try taking a folding chair in there hun.

Well seeing as we're at the club to MAKE MONEY not sit in the changing room gossiping, I really dont see a problem with this. I've worked at a lot of clubs that dont have chairs in the changing room.. now that I think of it I cant think of many that have chairs. This keeps the girls on the floor making money. I've also worked at clubs that fine you if your in the changing room to much. Your allowed to go in 5min before stage, get ready, go on stage then you have 5min after stage to clean up and get back on the floor. If you want to be lazy go home and mooch of welfare.

And yes it is illegal to have a cam in the changing room, its an invasion of privacy, speshly if they dont tell you about it.

We have chairs in our dressing room. There's plenty of girls at our club though that there is always enough girls on stage and on the floor. I dont sit back there half the night or anything but I like to have the option to sit and freshen up, take a breather, whatever....

If you need to take a break then take one!!! By law, people are entitled to a break and like the other girls said bring a fold up chair, like the ones that come in a bag that you can bring to soccer games. And if it were me, I would refuse to pay the fine for taking a break, clubs get away with this crap because the girls allow them. If all you girls refuse to pay the fine what are they going to do, fire all of you? They need you all to make their money and to keep the club running. Think about it, the customers don't come to the club for the overpriced alcohol and the overpriced, crappy food and certainly don't come to be friends with the managers & bouncers, they come to the club to see the dancers. Without the dancers, there's no club!!! The dancers are the ones that keep the club in business!!!

I worked in a club that did this once. I took the pasive agressive route in that I purchased a foot locker and used it as my chair! What are they going to do tell me I'm using the wrong kind of suitcase??

Maybe try sitting in the club with a makeup mirror and and do your makeup right in front of everyone, saying to the customer's that there is no chairs in the dressing room for you to do your hair and makeup!

Is there a VIP area? Maybe bring your makeup and hairstyling stuff in there to rest and get ready for work. When you need a break pull up a chair at the bar, put on some headphones and read a magazine for 10 minutes. Throw on a parka or something to signal the customer's that you are "off the clock" so to speak.

If all the dancer's are doing this, you'll see how fast the management changes it's policy. The club I worked at never did put cahirs back in the dressing room- but that is because there are way too many dancers working there, so there isn't really any room anyway. But we are allowed to chill in there when we want.

lol. I'm getting an image in my head of managers freaking out because of all the girls "off the clock" in their parkas in that club! Haha. Funny image.

I worked ONCE at a club like this.

It was no chairs, no smoking , no more then 3 minutes in the dressing room and you had to be doing something like getting ready etc etc.

They typically are doing this because too many girls are hanging out in the dressing room and not attempting to make money, or late to stage..hell maybe both.

Even if customers are not spending money, if the club appears void of dancers or just one or two..it kills any chance usually. guys with come through the door just to turn around and leave.

I think its bs.but then again im not one to hang out in a dressing room. I get myself way too involved in hs bs. Im lucky enough that I can find a hiding spot in my club and just pout

I don't personally imagine myself being told how long I can sit in the change room. I mean, I don't mind when it's reasonable. Like, if the club is paying me and there is nobody on the floor and we've been in there for like 1/2 hour. I would get annoyed really fast if I was told when to break, when to work, how long I could take to go to the bathroom and what to do when I am PAYING to work. The fact that I pay to work means I set my own damn conditions.

    UGH! that is SO STUPID!!

my club is sort of like that too. not that worst however...

like in my club, they dont pay us to work there. HOWEVER, we have to be there on time and leave when they say we can leave...(or else we get fined!) i mean im 15-30 mins late and thats fine, but if ur like an hour or more late, then its a fine. but thats so stupid. also,we have to go on stage ALOT..even if there ARENT any people. i asked bout this, and the guy said that since we have a high cover charge, they always want to have girls dancing. i suppose for the "enviroment". so lame, tho. and its like, we pay them to work there..so y all the fucking rules????????

i duno wut u shud do...are u close to any other cities that have good clubs? i know girls say they drive an hour or so to go to a good club that is worth it.

its kind of hard for me...theres only like 2 other clubs that would be worth my time. haha. goodluck tho!

i dont know what to do bout this...its so STUPID and tottaly unfair. We are the dancers..we are what make the club go around, we are the reason why people even come in the first place, shouldnt we be treated with more rights?

Rights and respect are something you periodically have to fight for. Either leave or get your strategy and the other girls together. Create a list of requrements you want management to meet and be prepared to work somewhere else if they refuse or they end your contract.

I can't believe some of you would defend a 2 minute rule. I would never want to work at a place like that. Perhaps if a stage show consisted of me running my hands up and down my body while slowly walking around the stage, then a 2 minute refresher would be in order. Other than that- the rule is bullshit.

I couldn't do it. Like everyone else said, YOU PAY to work there. If I wanted to be told what to do and when to do it, then I'd get a regular job. I don't hang out in the dressing room all night or much at all, but its not the point. If I'm want to go hang out in the dressing room, then I can. Thats the point. 2 Minutes???? What the hell is that?? That is not even reasonable.
