I think they all sound depressing. Anyone else?

NO SCROOGE!!! LOL!! They are not all depressing. They remind me of when we used to go to our local mall (when I was in elementary school) in the band, and play for the "oh, so interested" shoppers.
Some of the slower ones are kinda sad-sounding, but c'mon Jingle Bells & Frosty the Snowman are delightful ditties!!!!

Yeah, true when I was a kid. LOL. Chestnuts roasting song sounds so depressing to me.Originally Posted by JustJayda
I'm use to the Latino Christmas music I guess. Most of the songs are about reuniting with family and celebrating. It sounds so much happier, and you can even dance to it too. LOL.

No they're great! Which ones are depressing to you? I love Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

The chestnut roasting one, I don't know the name. That guys sounds very depressed. There's others too, just can't remember of any.Originally Posted by Mr Hyde

"have yourself a merry little christmas" yeah he does sound a little depressed when he sings, I guess that's his style.Originally Posted by Vyanka
I don't mind some of them- I love Madonna's "Santa Baby" and Mariah Carey's "O Holy Night".
I grew up listening tp my mom's Johnny Mathis Xmas tape, so it annoys me to hear other versions lol.

I <3 George Michaels Christmas song. I just love him anyway. lol.
I love Christmas Carols...but not when they start playing them BEFORE HALLOWEEN!!!! One of the local radio stations is already playing (and has been playing) Christmas Carols ONLY all day, every day since November 1st. Some of the stores I go to started playing carols before Halloween.
WTF? They used to play them the week or so before Xmas to "ring in the times"...but now...I want to strangle anyone who's singing carols before Halloween and Turkey day have come (except my daughter who's been singing Jingle Balls-heehee-since last Xmas).
Maybe I'm being Scroogey...but dammit...I can only hear so many renditions of "Silent Night" and "Silver Bells" before I want to barf. Between yesterday and today, I heard Madonna's "Santa Baby" 4 times. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH.
Other than that...I love Christmas Carols.![]()

There is nothing depressing about You're A Mean One, Mister Grinch by The Whirling Dervishes! Very sexy and I strip to it every year in my little Santa costume. Also, try Hang Up Your Stocking by The Chipmunks....very burlesque-y.

That one? That's a great one! Althought the semi-mournful way that Perry Como sings it, I guess may not sound cheerful.

they're depressing when i have PMS.. otherwise i can dig it.
i like christina's old album where she sings 'in excelsis deo' with the LA gospel choir. yikes. gets me every time.

Yeah that one. Dude needs four shots of Jack Daniels.Originally Posted by Mr Hyde

I like Christmas Carols too in moderation. It is the employees in the shopping centres and malls I feel sorry for as this is all they would hear all the time around this time of year ... so they probably don't want to hear them.
BTW, any Christmas song about snow will always and forever be misplaced here in Australia - it's Summer. That's the one thing about Christmas I never truely understood is how people can celebrate something that is so obviously linked with the Winter Solstice (all the symbology is there) during the middle of summer.......... that's why I have always opted for the secular non-religious version: it's a time of making merry and feasting with family and/or friends. A time to re-unite and catch up even if it is once a year.

I hate christmas music with a passion! The only one I can stand is the classical one without any singing... What's it called again? Carol of Bells, I believe.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

I think it depends on what memories the songs remind you of. Some make me sad because a sad memory associated.

Go find "Dominick The Donkey" It may not be easy to find, I've never heard it outside of the area of Massachusetts I grew up in, but it was always one of my favorites.

Yeah, we have that here too. But at least it sounds happy.Originally Posted by wakko0129
I used to listen to one in particular but I have a hard time remembering the title, it was very sad though, I think it concerned someone going to war. I have the Mariah Carey Christmas cd & I usually listen to that while I'm wrapping Christmas presents. When I was in Jr. High, a friend of mine really loved Hanson. So for Christmas I bought her the Hanson Christmas album. Bad move, when she came over to help decorate our tree she brought it, ugh I did not enjoy it.

That's a huge one around here (NY/NJ). Lots of us Italians in these parts.Originally Posted by wakko0129
