    Default Bone Spur...Advice?

Ok, I'll attribute this to all the dance I did while wearing jazz shoes and from wearing flip-flops WAY too much...I've developed a bone spur on my foot. It's been that way for a while, but it just recently started bothering me. It's kind of a dull ache- not really pain, but enough to make me take notice.

I attached a picture to show you where it is (and yes, I know it's a bad picture...I was trying to get the best angle possible and I haven't been for a spray tan in a while). I just wanted to know if anyone has ever had a bone spur develop there (or knows someone who has).

Any suggestions for what I should do about it? I have insurance, but I hate going to the doctor. If all else fails, though, that's what I'll do.

    Thanks for the help!

My aunt had a spur she had to get hers surgically removed. She had hers on the bottom of her ankle.

Well she HAD to have surgery. She couldnt wear certain shoes and it was hurting her all the time. I guess if it starts to seriously interfere with your life then I would do something about it.

^^ just a few links on spurs. If you google "heel spur" or "bone spur" it should provide some more info.

Yeah, I was looking. It's feeling better than it was last night (meaning I can walk without limping), and maybe by throwing all my flip-flops in a box for a while and wearing tennis shoes and stuff it'll help, too.

I just hate being hurt...it suuuuuuucks.

I've never had one on my foot, but I have one on my knee. When I went to the Dr he said that he could remove it with surgery if it bothered me, but he said otherwise to leave it. Hope you feel better sweetie, if it hurts too bad go see a doc.

The side of your foot is a rather odd place to get a bone spur, but not impossible. You could also have tendinitis or a stress fracture. I highly recommend seeing a podiatrist.

I thought that, too. I've had it for a while, though, and it hadn't bothered me at all (which made me think it was just a bone spur). I think I'll make an appointment with the doc, though. We've got great health insurance, so I might as well use it.
